Wanted to see what you guys thought. My biz partner (the web end of things) is looking it over now as well so we'll probably be changing a few things before it "goes out."

In HD if you'd like. The colors are darker from the web compression. I'll be fixing that.

If you feel it's too long let me know at what point you drifted.

Thanks in advance!

The BTS stuff kind of took me out of it. I feel like I want to see one section for kick-ass cinematography, one for 3D work that would flow nicely into commercial stuff since a lot of commercial material was 3D, and then into those slick websites from there and maybe finish out with the BTS--or start with it. My gripe with the BTS is that everything else is so slick that the BTS looks shabby by comparison, given that it was shot on a BTS cam. The only one I liked was towards the end, the shot of the HPX. If you want to show how awesome your gear and process is I would go ahead and shoot some promo stuff specifically for the purpose. It's all about the end result anyway, not how you get there. That said, some cool speed-ramped 60p shots of each operator in action with a little lighting thrown in could sway a potential client's decision just enough to hire you.

Your demo looks very nice and professional (the results I mean)... I'd consider shortening the opener, even though the rocket and "stage 2" thing is something to be proud of... I'd shorten it somehow (just tighten it up a bit). Another option here is to ghost your scripted lead in large... on the BG layer with the earth, or put something to read on the rocket... Natgeo and Disc have rocket shots in a lot of bumpers... and it's just for a second... and in that second we see violent flame and ice-shattering off and dropping. My point is that "common" rocket shots are actually really amazing, so I think tightening this part up would serve you well.

I agree that some of the BTS is more then you need. The first steadicam shot BTS doesn't do anything to sell me on production, even though I'm a production guy and can see that's a nice rig... I don't think BTS is bad if it's presented as a reveal, like that one reel we were all looking at... stargate studios... which has the shot go seamlessly back and forth between greenscreen and reality... and if you must show a quick BTS within the context of THAT shot... like back and forth then BTS... then I could see using BTS shots (because I realize that your BTS may not be so obvious as to have big green or blue screens telling the viewer "the effect is here! see it?"

If you want to keep those BTS shots in there then I'd split the screen like the show 24... showing the BTS in one box and the actual shot in real-time in the other.

That's about all the "criticism" I can offer you... I hope my input helps, but either way your stuff looks really nice. I'd hire you.

I found it pretty interesting!

And I second that the first steadicam shot is adding much to the overall image.
Anyway nice reel! and work you've done.
