New Slow Motion Processing in FCP

I watched a demo of the slow motion capabilities in the new version of FCP, and one of the features is that it can intelligently remap frames to create new frames for smoother and cleaner slow motion. To me, this seems like on the biggest breakthroughs in digital filmmaking in ages. How do you guys think will work out if your footage originates on a DVX? I've always had gripes about the limited slo-mo capabilities of Vegas, and now that I'm going to the new FCP, I'm gonna be going all Matrix style with everything that I shoot. Imagine a commercial for a local dentist where a doctor goes to shake a patient's hand and the speed ramps down to crystal clear slo-mo....Sorry I got carried away... :)

It's definitely a nice step forward, but there's no substitute for real photographed frames for slow motion. That's why the big boys still shoot high speed film such as the Photosonics cameras they used on big movies like POTC and Transformers.

Or the digital Phantom HD which they use for countless commercials and the like.

Of course renting either one can big $$$ so this is the next best thing for the little guy.
