Hi all,

I see the Sennheiser has just released their new MKE400 microphone. It's a small super-cardioid microphone with hot mount and shock mount, 1/8 inch mini-jack, lowpass filter switch, and volume control (AAA battery). Retailing at $200, I assume this mic is intended for something like the Canon HV20.

Have any of you had any experiences to share with this unit?

Regards, Michael

Must be a replacement for the MKE300, which I once owned. If so can tell you that
A)it's plastic, B)It gives about 3 times the gain of the on camera mic , and C) the sound quality is better than built in camera mic. But you will get much better quality with an
off cam boom or lav mic. If you must have an on cam mic on a handycam, it is not a bad choice.
