New Rode Stereo VideoMic X ( Immersive Audio Mic )

So it looks like an on-camera version of their NT-4 microphone. Same 9V battery option, etc. But apparently they make a new enclosure without the 17-pound body(*).

* Yes, I know the NT-4 doesn't weight 17 pounds, but it sure feels like it. And at least one TSA agent briefly mistook mine for some sort of obscure weapon.

Its almost certainly better quality than any built-in microphone pair on any camera.
But it doesn't address the problem that ON THE CAMERA is typically not a very good location for any microphone.
