Those posts about the Rode VPM were helpful, thanks. So far I have near zero mic experience for narrative work but have done extensive forum and review reading to discover the best mic for one-man mobile fast moving documentary shooting. The well-established Rode stereo videomic is by all accounts very good for the price, but it’s noticeably big and the supporting rubber bands tend to break. If I can get the same or better performance from this smaller new Rode video mic pro than that’s great. I hope to buy one and team it with a Canon XA10, but also supplemented with a small Olympus digital recorder (PCM) and lavalier mic. We are lucky we are living at a time when such compact equipment is available and can produce reasonable results if you are shooting video on your own.

looks very good, very versatile and compact as you say. iIve been using audio technica, but would go for this at the drop of a hat.
