This is extremely exciting.. even though I'll never be able to afford a $55k Red Epic, its amazing to know there is a sensor thats 7in x 2in, and produces up to 25 frames per second of 28,000 vertical pixel resolution (makes 1080 look like SD). But still, I've more negative than positive things about CMOS. The skew, the wobble, the partial exposure, all the rolling shutter artifacts. Is there ANY possibility of creating a CMOS sensor with a global shutter? Or is a rolling shutter to a CMOS like the U to the Q? If so, is there any chance for a CCD sensor that large?

Now, I've never had experience with Red, the EX1/EX3, or any other CMOS cameras, so I'm going 100% off what I hear and read. So if I'm completely out of line, and RED products have absolutely no problem, put me in my place.

Believe me, I'm a strong believer in "lighting is the #1 importance", and resolution numbers are not as important as they are made out to be. But I think we all got pretty excited when we saw the price tags that low ($2,500 and possibly less) and the resolution specs and frame rate specs that high (3k resolution/120fps on the $2,500 model). But remembering the CMOS rolling shutter artifacts I've heard of and seen examples of, it just doesn't seem as exciting anymore.

My HVX hasn't given me a problem yet :)
