New products from Redrock on sale.

I think you completely misunderstood me.
If it was clever wordplay it was really unintentional.

I think this thing looks phenomenal for the price.
Never meant to insinuate otherwise.
No, I think you misunderstood me. What you said before, and what you're clarifying here, are exactly the same thing. I thought it was clever the way you played "ripoff" (negative) against "steal" (positive.) Well said.

Well boy is my face red.
It was me who misunderstood you.

I have to say Barry - it burns me up that even when I think you're wrong about something I said...you wind up being right.
:)

LoL. Yeah, Luis did hit the nail on the head.

I seriously can't believe they're offering a product like that for 600 -900.

I think Redrock has a very long life-span as a gear providing entity. I'm definitely looking forward to newer releases from the RR group. Between Letus and Redrock, it's all sewed up.

................ A cool new thing about the shouldermount is that it mounts straight to Manfrotto heads. It slides right into the plate and all. The grips are "squishy" and adjustable. The cool thing about everything in their booth is that the production releases are going to be even MORE SOLID!
.............Louis's Carrion was on display at the booth also.Feel free to ask any questions. After two days with Redrock at the booth, I think I can answer lots of the questions on the mattebox, shouldermount, microX, etc.

so the shoulder itself can mount directly to a quick release head?
If that is the case, then that is just too damn practical.
Might the grips be available in black or is it blue only?
Given the type of events I do, the blue would totally kill it for me.
Any provision for a counterweight on the back?

edit:... "The microPod and microPowerPod can be added to the rear of the rig for counterbalance weight and additional mounting options for accessories"

In terms of a counterweight... they don't have anything currently like Zacuto's lunchbox piece. But that doesn't mean they won't.

The shouldermounts I played with where black. However the grips where blue. I don't know if there is a provision for black grips but I'll check into that.

In comparison to Zacuto it really depends on your needs. Everyone knows I'm a massive Zacuto fan and thus I'm a little biased to be honest. RRM's grips are soft, Zacuto's are harder. Zacuto's come in two lengths... unsure about the lengths for RRM.

And yes... the shouldermount slides right onto Manfrotto plates. It has holes for other mounting plates options as well.

I am a reservation holder on two or three wireless FF units and recently received an email stating that they were back to the drawing board on it. I'm pricing out a Bartech / Varizoom system, which is what I should have done in the first place.

Ouch.
That's exactly why I've never been a fan of the 'reservation' system (I know you're not either, Erik).

Did they give any indication of how long it would be?

They have 4" and 8" handgrip rods. The bundles available for purchase now include one of each - I think that this is because a lot of people prefer to offset the left handgrip for comfort. I know that it is a little awkward reaching my left arm across my body using my Cavision handgrips now. I mean, I can certainly deal with it, but it would be nice to have my left arm straightened out a little bit more.

This is of course just referring to the horizontal axis - Joe, maybe you could tell us (or find out) if there is an option to adjust the vertical reach of the handgrip?

I wish I'd saved the email, because I would just paste it here. The feeling I got was "don't hold your breath".

For me, the RedRock would be a terrific option if it works to the same reliable standard as a Preston or Bartech - both of which sit at roughly eight times the projected price on the low end.

I will try to find out. I can say the entire baseplate system is getting a revamp. They're also going to start offering carbon fiber rods as an option

I just watched the freshdv podcast about the Redrock accessories, and Brian was showing off a unit with extended handgrips. I think he was using the new MicroMounts and short 15mm rails to extend the handgrips. These MicroMounts make a lego-type system for your camera support... me likey.

Definitely interested to see the new baseplate. I am very happy with mine now, but there's always room for improvement, no?

Ya Will... I agree the stuff was nice. Lots more blue knobs and accents. One of my favorite things is the option for different colored accents on their mattebox. Checkout RedRock on freshdv's site as well as on pansonic's NAB podcasts

Boys and Girls, this was one of the few booths at NAB that I did not want to leave. I just kept playing with both the Mattebox and the Follow Focus. I kept asking the gal to repeat the price until she finally wrote it down to shut me up. It seemed too good to be true.

This thing is not just good at the price, it's kick-ass, period. You can spend a LOT more and not get a better piece of hardware.

Number 1 on my must-buy list.

The Redrock Micro Matte Box is awesome. I was there with Jim and we were very pleased with the quality of the matte box and the follow focus. The matte box did seem a little on the heavy side, certainly heavier than the Arri MB-20 that I compared it to, but I think that the construction and quality are part of why it's a little heavier. That, to me, is a good thing!

I wish I had a reservation, but I can wait. I'm a believer, and I know that Redrock Micro accessories will be a big part of my Red One setup.
