New Nikon P6000!

This could be very very cool. It looks as small as the Lumix TZ5 but with way more quality and manual control (in theory!). This could even be a match for the D40 (enven though you're stuck with a 28-112mm or a 21mm with a wide angle conversion lens). I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing this babe in action.

You may as well just get a D40.

I'm lusting after this one: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0807/08072102panasoniclx3.asp

Nikon's done some strange things with the p6000: new Raw format (not NEF) that I will not be able to open in CaptureNX and f5.9 at the tele end.

What's that goofy viewfinder thing on the top? Are they serious?

[sinapps]

Goofy? The viewfinder is optional. It also underscores the camera's Leica heritage.

Yep, but this thing would be a portable solution that you can take in your pocket.

show us some shots man. let us know what it can do.

I have some of my fav pictures from my old Sony 3MP P&S (Bought when 3MP was HUGE!).

Sadly it's not available here in Europe yet, but I will definitely have look once it is.

yeah this looks cool. looks like they wanna put up a camera to go head to head with the g9. I love these kinds of cameras for underwater work. Their cheap, the housings are cheap and some even shoot HD.

Canon has just come up with some new cameras but no G10 yet. I really have high hopes they'll come in swinging with a big has CMOS sensor and at least a 28mm (I don't know why is Canon so reluctant about including a wide angle lens on their lower end cameras)

I know it probably has toons of CC over it to make it look this good, but the fact that you cannot view heavy artifacts when you see the image at full scale is a VERY good improvement. I've seen some full scale shots from the LX3 that displayed a lot of artifacts.
Lets wait for some actual user tests to see what's really up.
