New Multi-Rig?

The word a while ago was that dvtec was coming out with a new rig designed to support an HVX with an adaptor, lens and matte box out front. I haven't hear word of it since, and I see nothing on their website. Anyone have information?

I got mine last week and used it for an all weekend shoot with and without a Lens adapter. I loved it! Worth every penny so far!

Does the DvRigHD work well without the pod? I would like to use it without having to put the belt on...is it well balanced without the pod? Thanks in advance!

If you attached enough counterbalance weight on the rear, I think you might be ok without. Though I'm sure it would be less effecient than with its intended configuration.

If its the belt that bothers you, why not purchase a holster clip for the support pod? They sell it in the accessories section on the multirig. I believe the dvrig HD uses the same support rod and belt as their multirig. If that's the case the holster will allow you to use the rig without the belt, as possible with the multirig.

Though, as stated in the multirig review in the articles section, using the holster alone may keep the support rod right up against your body causing more pronounced shake while walking. Then again, the multirig and dvrig HD aren't substitutes for steadicams so this may or may not matter for you.

Thanks Arrik...I've been using the varicam for the past 3 years and just trying to recreate that kind of balance on my shoulder (without all the weight of course) without using that pod, because i like to be able to get low angle shots and throw it back on my shoulder without having to worry about the connecting the poll...

I understand. I prefer not to be connected to the support rod as well. I find there are many instances that call for me to put the cam down, maybe just for a moment, that make something even as simple as a quick unscrewing of the support rod and tightening the the locks just enough of a hassle to not want to have to deal with.

Because the rigHD was not out at the time. I dished out the extra dough (putting it lightly) for a zacuto hand held rig.

I would like to have a dvrigHD eventually, but right now I'm still recovering from my zacuto purchase. I hope someone reviews the dvrigHD soon. With all the adapter users out there, I'm sure many others are curious to hear about its performance.

How do you like the Zucuto? I was looking at that too, but it seems a bit pricey...is it worth it? Is it good quality? Can you get it to balnce on your shoulder very well?
