New MTS copy/concatenate utility

A friend and I shoot school theatrical events, i.e. long clips,
and since 2009 have been using Panasonic AVCHD cams. I use
Movie Studio. Early on we discovered the MTS chunking issue
and have been using the MTSMerger utility. Vegas Device
Explorer now supports AVCHD but does so by copying and
concatenating. I prefer to take care of file copying and
concatenating outside of the editor. So I've developed my own
utility, MTSCopyCat, that I think is an improvement on MTSMerger
and Device Explorer, at least for my particular purposes.

It's available for free download at

http://www.knotless.com/cheap-tools.html

Note, the code should work on non-Panny equipment, but
if you run into trouble, just send a playlist (MPL) example.

There's nothing like re-solving a solved problem! And here's
hoping someone doesn't point out a new metadata feature
in Vegas...

trouble with canon

trouble with canon

I've got a bunch of files from a summer school show:

D:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM>dir
Volume in drive D is CANON
Volume Serial Number is 0E05-1623

Directory of D:\PRIVATE\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM

08/05/2012 10:09 PM <DIR> .
08/05/2012 10:09 PM <DIR> ..
08/01/2012 08:04 PM 2,045,097,984 00002.MTS
08/01/2012 08:19 PM 1,874,774,016 00003.MTS
08/01/2012 08:38 PM 2,045,073,408 00004.MTS
08/01/2012 08:54 PM 2,045,460,480 00005.MTS
08/01/2012 08:59 PM 528,236,544 00006.MTS

I've attached the MPL file. (I just added the txt extension, otherwise I couldn't attach it)

MTSCopyCat shows AVCHD data found on drive D:\

00000.MTS 0
00001.MTS 0
00002.MTS 3737 14.49
00004.MTS 4403 20.20

I have deleted 00000.MTS and 00001.MTS from the chip - they were random clips.

Merging these mts files is driving me nuts. I'd appreciate any help in using your utility to do it.

Thanks,

sean
