Hi, I'm Andrew and I'm an aspiring filmmaker in Wichita, KS who keep getting stuck shooting stills. I'm working with a Canon 7D now, but I'm hoping to pick up either a Pocket Cinema Camera or possibly a GH4 sometime in the near future. Anybody have a clue as to when they are going to drop the price to $500 again?

Hello. I'm John from New York City, I have a G&E background for many many years, but I'm immersing myself in the camera department these days, and that's why I'm here. I'm shooting with an FS7 with a set of Nikon lenses primarily, but I also own C300's and DSLR's.

Hi, I joined here to ask for advice on if the Sony a7s is a good dslr for stills and video? I do have a 5d mark iii, but getting a fast enough CF card to do RAW is not for me. I would like something that can replace the 5d mark iii that can give me good still photography and good video capabilities.

Hey everybody! I'm an in-house video producer by day, weirdo, indie filmmaker by night. Working to slowly make my job more of the latter and a little less of the former. Not that I don't enjoy my day job. I've been a long-time lurker, but hope to contribute what little I can to this great forum. Mostly use Canon 5D's and a C100 at work, but use a GH3 for my personal projects. Pretty dedicated to MFT at this point, but Samsung of all companies has me second-guessing that with the NX1.

@gaboo
I'll leave it to someone who's actually used an a7s before, but every sample I've seen and review that I've read has been stellar. Both being full frame, you'd already be acclimated to the sensor size and the feel that goes along with it. Low-light is even better than the 5d and probably most anything else at this point, but consider that the a7s is only 12 or so MP, if that matters to you at all.

@Thcomb

No idea if they'll drop the price again, pending a new Blackmagic camera body. Kicking myself for not jumping on that price drop.

Hello everyone, I'm an entrepreneur and filmmaker from NL, Canada. Mostly use blackmagic cameras for my line of work. Good to be here.

Aloha,
Hawaii based film maker here finally able to comment after reading posts for years! Look forward to getting to know you all better and hopefully learn and share knowledge!

Mahalo!

At long last! I've landed! Though I've been trekking through the internet for months and years, I'd never stumbled upon the planet "DVXUsers", though now I am most pleased to have done so! While I'm here I hope to gain much needed knowledge about filmmaking, and if all goes well, and the stars align (or I simply get enough sleep) I'll be able to help out a little too!
Brief explanation of my video equipment:
Camera: 6D and 60D
Lenses: 70-200mm 2.8, 50mm 1.4, 20mm 2.8, antique 135mm 3.5
Shoulder rig, Konova K2 Slider, Fluidhead tripod, etc.
Lacking: decent lights, actor directing wisdom, and a horse. ;)
Cheers!

Hi everyone my name is Blair and I'm from New Zealand.

Aspiring actor and film maker. Currently working on a ten minute comedy short.

Here's a little short I made mainly to test out my follow focus. Scripted on the fly just for fun.

Good day to everyone!
Finally getting into film after photography, primarily architectural. Really excited to try myself in this unforgiving craft. Here's to success!

I found this forum when I was first getting into filmmaking over a decade ago.
Eventually I got tired of not being able to see attachments, so I registered. Hi.
