The Mac Pro also supports up to three 4K displays. It'll be available in the Fall, so I'm assuming FCPX will receive the 4K update by then as well. I wonder what else will be included in the update?

Wow. It's a beast. I really think this is gonna change how people view computers. For so long, they have been limited by what you can fit in the case. Thunberbolt (1 and 2) blow this concept away, and having 6 Thunderbolt 2 ports? Sick!

Yeah, I'll love having a spaghetti of tb cables all over my desktop. I thought I gave that daisy-chaining mess up with SCSI.

What is old is new again with the itube.

Lol. Really? I definitely respect you around these forums, but your statements seem to have pretty hostile/bitter over-tones. Based on feelings being burned by FCPX?

I see it as buying a camera body and then adding what you want to it. It's modular. You don't diss the Epic because you have to connect it to storage. In fact being modular is a great thing as it should be more accessible in terms of dollars. A couple cables running to whatever tower of storage you need placed wherever you need, cables running to your monitors (always have those still), and maybe one Bi-directional 20GB/s I/O device on your desk. That sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Better than climbing under your desk to access the back of your monstrous tower to switch an HDSDI cable on your Blackmagic card. Or unplugging everything to pull the massive tower out from underneath the desk to switch out a simple I/O device because it has to be in a PCIE slot for speed.

I am all for the new mac pro. The specs as is are sure to take my through the next few years for my needs and any expansion via thunderbolt is a great solution. If anything I like the idea of being able to utilize the same peripherals on multiple thunderbolt machines and move them back and forth as needed.

I actually just wrote a blog post on how the new Mac Pro will affect FCP X http://www.noamkroll.com/finally-a-new-mac-pro-and-what-it-means-for-fcp-x/

Thanks for the link! I'm reading it now.

Which is why my Mac is under my desk. 2 SAS cables, 2 eSATA, 2 DVI, 1 ethernet, 1 SDI, 2 XLR audio, 1 stereo audio, an assortment of USB & FW...

I'm sure I'm forgetting something since I'm too lazy to bend over & look.

Watched the Mari demo at WWDC on the new Mac Pro, man is it tiny but seems to pack quite a punch, according to the Pixar artist. Can't wait to get one.
