New Mac and 100B

Am about to make a big step and hope I have the right equipment, so any advice greatly appreciated.
First, my computer skills are limited and actually pushing the buttons editing has not happened, though I have supervised many, many editing sessions with an engineer doing the work. As a cameraman and or director/cameraman the actual need for me to do everything was never there.
Now it is and I must learn an editing system and its relationship with the camera and computer I am about to buy.
I have a very big birthday coming up, not over the hill, but a good view, and my very generous sister is going to help me with the purchases, (Very Lucky Me), so I am going to start with an entirely new system.
I am going to use FCP, and I am a bit confused by recent postings re Magic Bullet/FCP compatibility.
Which Mac Laptop is best for FCP editing?
Thank you for this and or any other related considerations or thoughts

for the computer, it's easy ... fastest and biggest. I am on a 12 inch powerbook and it gets frustrating sometimes with such a small screen (i use an external monitor as well). The new macbook pros are pretty sweet and Apple optimized Final Cut Studio to work faster with the new intel processors.

but they wont work with magic bullet. So if you NEED magic bullet, either go Powerbook, or wait for Red giant to release Universal versions of magic bullet.

(but who NEEDS magic bullet, its cool, yes, but it's a crutch) :b

Thanks for replies. Am not up to speed on Magic Bullet, assume it is a supplemental system...?
Will have my hands full learning the camera and starting baby steps with fcp. So, at this stage, can I safely say that a Macbook Pro and fcp studio would be a great combo with the 100B? And Magic Bullet not important this early in learning curve? Will not be doing anything complicated in editing, no effects, etc, just pretty straight stuff. Lots of what I call reality interviews, just man on the street (woman, person....), real people questions and answers for 15 and or 30 spec spots.
Gracias,
Stuart

Magic Bullet is a set of plugins that add film look tints to your work. However the same effects can be applied with FCP own colour corrector, some blurs and transfer modes.
