New Look I've Achieved! Grabs and Video

Hey guys...I was editing a wedding video last night when I put some effects filters together and came up with a hot new look I discovered (for myself at least). I did it in Vegas, but it's the $100 consumer version of it. Funny thing it, I always find new things with the software. You can always mix things and create new elements. Anyway, I posted some grabs too because the compression kills the quality of it. Let me know what you guys think. (the new achieved look is towards the end of the video...like the last 2 minutes or so.

(I used my on camera light and shined the rings from the side and a little from the back.

(This is the new look I was talking about. I think it's really awesome)

(Here it is again...not as much color as the other one though)

Looks good... reminds me a bit of magic bullet's white diffusion.

Remember to use the looks accordingly, though. I skimmed through the video you posted, and noticed the "aged film" look in there. Kinda looks out of place - like you threw it in there just becuase you could. I use the white diffusion A LOT in my wedding video's... particulary in the montage's. It's one of those that looks good, even if you use it in every shot. It softens the look, and give's it the whole "angelic", wedding feel to it.

Nice!

Nice!

I really like that first grab. Especially the crimson curtain to the upper right-- that mixed with the rest of the shot and flowers on the ground reminds me of an ancient roman procession or something. Maybe a Ridley Scott look-feel?

Sorry! I just realized-- those are pews not a curtain. Still if it were a curtain I'd have to go with my original impressions anyway.

Nice work!

I am not sure how you acomplished that look, but a very easy way to get that look is to shoot your original work slightly over exposed then in FCP duplicate the layer and place it above the original. On the duplicate add a gaussian blur to the clip and change the composite mode to overlay. That will give you that "look". Here is what i got.

Hmm ...

Hmm ...

Man, you lost me at the salon. Too much hair styling, not enough wedding.

Cute girls though.

You lost that beautiful blue eye.
The skin looks really good though and I would probably try to bring the eye back in.

thanks for the comments guys

Andrew, I already used that method before but this method I figured out now looks a lot better.

rcbrown, thanks for the tip. I think I will change it. i really liked the look of it and wanted to use it, but if I use too much of it, it will get annoying. i've done that before on a wedding video and I regret it.

I changed the music to it. I put the music from Pearl Harbor...oooo! it looks way much better or should I say feels much better. it should make them cry when they watch it or at least teary eyed...haha! It's crazy how music has a lot to do with it.

anyway, i think this wedding video is gonna be my best one...it's turning out that way. well...gotta go work on it...keep sending suggestions/comments. peace!
