Have to send my macbook pro back ( lets not focus on the why's )

but this will mean replacing it with a PC notebook.

im having a hard time finding something with similar specs to what i had on the macbook pro

Things i want in the computer:

1) Core 2 duo, 2.00 - 2.33ghz with 4mb bus speed.
2) 2 gigs of ram 667 mhz
3) at least 120 gig hard drive
4) 256 mb graphix card
5) firewire 400, firewire 800 inputs.
6) MATTE screen, wide 15.4

anyone know which company i could go to for these specifications? (i.e. links to specific models)

A friend of mine bought an HP and he's very happy with it, I still think the thinkpads are the best models (T60 right now)
I haven't seen PC laptops with FW800 but you can always get that with an add-pn PCMCIA card

why did you send the macbook pro back? was it O/S related or hardware issues.
I was considering getting one and setting it up with dual boot OSX/Windows

I know there are several Toshiba notebooks that have these specs... and I believe you can special order one with matte screen at no extra charge. the Toshibas consistently win reviews and tests and are both cheap and reliable (I now have two)

the issue is with quicktime and mac codecs.

If you checkup some of the threads i have made about the Color Red and its nartiness when i import footage as MOV into final cut pro, youll see why.

(lets not start an argument here as to why the reds are the way they are, this has already been dealt with)

don't send the computer back...if you want to go back to windows then just load it onto the Macbook Pro. it is such a beautiful machine and is absolutely worth keeping.

yes, it does run windows

but the mac is optimized for mac osx.

i.e. all that beautiful power you get running osx does not aply in windows

tried rendering 5 minutes of footage with one layer of color correction,

the first 2 mins took 2 hours.

thx
