New K-Tek product video, not nearly as cool as Chad's music video, though...

Um... for swapping mics that might be slightly helpful. But here's my problem. I don't see how it's going to help with the having to spin your zep around on the pole, because you'll either need to do after you attach the quick release or you'll be spinning it around with the quick release. To me it seems like you just removed the hassle of having to unplug and replug in the XLR connector, which isn't a big deal.

Sorry, cool video though.

The idea is that you would put the top piece on each of your zeppelins so they are always attached to them. There is a collar on the top piece that spins independently of the top thread that the zepp is on. That way, you can swap out zeppelins quickly. The quick release top screws into the zeppelin. There is no awkward "spinning of the zeppelin" involved. Imagine that there is a zeppelin already attached to the top piece when you watch the video. The reason I didn't put one on when I made it is because it took up the entire frame. I had tried that, and the zeppelin made it hard to see what I was doing from the camera's perspective.

Here is what Jeff Wexler had to say over on his forum about it, and maybe this will help.

" Once the pole is fitted with the female end, you put all of your microphones in their mounts or in the zeppelin style windscreen, each having its own "top" piece (the male end) so changing out the mic even if it is mounted in a windscreen is very fast. There is no need to connect the mic since the mic is already in its mount (or mount and windscreen) connected by its pigtail, and the connection to the pole is accomplished by the Quick Release."

Hope that helps.

The quick release system is a separate K-Tek product, just like our windscreens and shock mounts are separate products.

In terms of having the top section of your pole made with the female quick release xlr built in (the first thing I show in the video), that is something that would be custom ordered for any of our poles for an additional $100.

The end of the video shows high resolution pictures of the quick release separate, along with the part numbers
