New inexpensive zeplin

Sound Ninja
There is a company out of India making Sen. Zep knock offs that are getting pretty good reports. They quite affordable so....

If the link below doesn't work search ebay.

eBay-Windkorb (made in India)

ok , i did small investigation and they do not the same company which produce the cavision , the handle and suspension looks more solid and where copied from sennheizer
about the windshield i cant tell allot
i expect get one in a few weeks and tell you the whole truth about the product

And after I did a pretty good Oleg impersonation, you want to retract your previous comments? You have any idea how long I worked to get your voice right?

I have one. Here's the skinny:

It's cheap. :P

It will get the job done, however, there are some caveats. Treat it gently, this thing is not made to withstand much... it's cheap plastic. That doesn't make it any less useable for what it's supposed to do (prevent wind noise), but it's nowhere near as sturdy as the ones that cost 5x as much.

Secondly, REPLACE the damn wiring. It's total garbage crap home telephone wire. It's a pretty short run of wire there, but even so... that is some absurdly bad hair-thin strands of %$#@ wire they used. If you value your sound enough to buy a blimp at all, you should certainly be willing to pay for an extra foot-length of decent cable.

The furry is kinda stupid... but hey you get what you pay for. Maybe one of these days I'll hook it up and do an A-B comparison with it. It's at least good to know that SOMEONE is attempting to make reasonably-priced gear. They haven't hit the nail on the head, but after swapping out the wiring it works fine... and for a tiny fraction of the price of a sturdier rycote or even k-tek.

Cheers,
Kevin

I'll save Oleg the trouble of posting- ahem... "They are crap!".

Based on your extensive use of one?

I didn't say they were great, they came up on the DUC and the review was decent for the money. There has been some discussion of making your own and having done that in my early years I can tell you that if it's 1/2 way decent it's a bargain over making one.

That said, for a bit more you can get one from Ktek that is probably a LOT better made. But I'm just tossing out options that people may not know of. I certainly had never heard of this till this morning.

Quirk was basing this assumption off a previous thread we had on this zeppelin: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=77188

Oleg convinced to save my hundred bucks to give one of these a test run but if these aren't the one's he has had experience with I think I will order one to see if they can be at all useful.

If the pictures on ebay are accurate, you will be at least getting a decent shockmount (they have two mounts for auction and one looks like a Ktek GPS clone).

It does concern me that this company has multiple seller names on ebay and none of them have 100% positive ratings.

Cheers
