New inexpensive Sony, 1920x1080 60p • 24Mbps

THIS IS IT!!!! This is EXACTLY what this camera was MADE TO DO!!!! Not professional...but WAY beyond what a compact camera was capable of in the past. WOWWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!! I've always wanted this kind of power in my pocket. This is a stunning example of what it is VERY good at, (no...what it was MADE to do.)

Enjoy!!

Jeen has a very good eye and really knows how to exploit this camera. So far, I haven't seen anything that he's done with it that doesn't look spectacular. Bottom line is that the camera more than holds it's own in the right hands and under the right circumstances.

I couldn't agree more. I've already seen some SERIOUS trash shot on this cam. (I won't post, so as NOT to insult anyone)....but this is a PRIME example of what it is capable of straight out of your pocket. VERY NICE INDEED!

More of what it's good at. I'm not sure where this guy is from, but...if he WERE on vacation, HX9 would be perfect pocket cam to capture these images (as he did...so you can see)

Hey Guys! So sorry for the delay...(been very busy lately)

Some peeps had requested to see my "anamorphic setup" using the HX9 and the Hypergonar anamorphic lens. Well...here it is!

This is actually *much* better than you might think. You can see that it's easy to shoot hand held. A GIVEN question would be....why do this when you could just use a DSLR? Actually, in this situation (giant anamorphic lens), the HX9 is *MUCH* better to shoot with than a DLSR. The reason why is that you don't have to worry about focus. This can be the MOST frustrating thing when shooting anamorphic (getting focus is VERY difficult)...with this setup, it's MUCH easier. It's "single" focus, seeing as you don't have to worry about the camera. Here's a video that I shot using this setup: (posted earlier in this thread)

FYI, heading out to Washington, DC for a business trip. It will be interesting to see what kind of footy I can get with the HX9. I can tell you that it was WAY cool to pack!! :) The only thing I'm taking is the HX9, a loupe (for bright light shooting), a 10in tripod that extends to 40in. That's it!

I hope I actually GET TIME to shoot...but we'll see.

Thank you very much for posting your setup. Could you elaborate a bit more? I see a telephoto lens support, 2 crossed macro focusing rails (?), and... What else? Thanks again.

Have a question for those who have it. I sometimes need a camera to run for extended periods (10 to 60 minutes). What is the battery life of the HX9 and how much footage will fit say on a 16GB card?

I have a 16GB Transcend class 10 card in mine and it shows 80 minutes at the highest resolution. I haven't recorded anything long enough to put a strain on the battery yet, so I can't help you out there. Also, I don't think that there is a time recording limit on NTSC models, but the PAL ones I believe are limited to 29 minutes. Don't hold me to that though, I'd wait to hear someone else chime in.

Thanks. Found the manual online and it shows 70 minutes battery life for video. For movies it lists 29 minutes as the max continuous shooting for movies and 2GB = 9 minutes.
