new Igus Slider W1040-A

Igus just came out with a new slider and it's CHEAP... the W1040-A, I can't figure out what the difference is between this model and the other?! They both have a 1,000+ lbs static weight limit so to me that sounds like they both will hold an hvx.... or 400 stacked up lol but I'm not trying to but it if it's like more narrow and will flex or something?! Anyone use it? Anyone at least try the smaller system with an hvx and have an good results? I'm on a tight budget...
 
awesome, I'm looking forward to it :) I already bought an indislidermini in the meantime but I'm open to buying this one as well since it's bigger...

I have built 2 sliders using extruded aluminum (just like indislidermini) so I'll be able to get you some comparison info. In fact, if you're happy with your indislidermini and just want it to be longer, go to eBay and search for 8020. Then just pick the right aluminum profile and buy it in whatever length you want. It'll probably be less than $20 for a 3 or 4' piece.

Wow. I can't believe i paid $100 for this lol. does that 8020 fit the same carrier? The only problem I have with the indi unit is that the carrier is loose as heck and if you put more tension on it its harder to move... I'm gonig to rig up a tripod head on it too, that little puck thing is a bit of a pain and if I want to angle the camera using the puck I have to tilt my tripod head all the way back and that gives the carrier problems moving with the weight of the HVX.... otherwise I like the indi, it's great for macro shots

Don't know. Looks similar. They're very helpful. If you contact them with some pics and measurements I'm sure they'll be able to advise you.

slider arrived today. It looks/is smaller than the other version. The rail doesn't have any holes so you can't thread for stoppers unless you drill it. I imagine it works just like any other slider. Feels smooth. Has a tiny allen key for adjusting the drag on the rail. There is an adjustment on the side that tightens it up. I'll get some pics and video up in a couple days.
