New home theater!

So, I figured for a college student, I am pretty priveleged to now have an actual home theater setup in my apartment!

-HD 720p/1080i(p) DLP Projector

-Logitech 5.1 Surround System

-Panasonic Cinema HDMI 1080p upconvert DVD Player

I even built a frame for the screen, so it just looks like a giant TV...150" TV to be precise :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

I started watching LOTR in 1080 and just started laughing it was so amazing. I didn't know what to do, I was just ...

Pics soon!

I knew there won't be any pics in here, lock the thread :D
Man, you start a thread like that without pics?

Haha, sorry here they are. (camera phone, sorry for the quality.)

Still putting the finishing touches on it. Trying to figure out how to better hide the cables...Also will be adding a dozen or so more posters.

Hi,

That looks very nice.

just need HDDVD or Bluray player in your toolset and your good to go..

Unless you have unlimited funds, I'd avoid getting a dedicated Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player for now. There's a good chance that both of these formats will be a flop. Downloading, Joost and DVRs are the ways forwards. Discs are so 20th century!

You're joking, right? Evolution is one of the most well founded and well proven scientific theories around. I'd love to argue with you about this issue but DVXuser is hardly the place to have such a discussion.

*edit* - Google is a great tool! Anhar, I found you over on IIDB.org. That looks like fun - I might join you for a debate over there ;-)

We have an old projector. It's got the resolution of a gameboy. It's still better than watching a TV, but I am interested in the one you have in terms of price/quality, etc.

Nice set-up.

Thats correct, this is not the place for this type of discussion, also at the said Forum if you looked in the Formal Debate section, That is the place I won my Formal Debate go read it up please, so I've done my debating, along with a trail of other posts that are floating around in cyber space.

I'm not trying to sound pompous but my statement is not made lightly and without its due worth.

I have my factual based reasons for my signature, you may not agree with me that is entirely your free view that you can rightly enjoy, but please do not make sweeping generalising comments.

Thank you.

Now back on topic.

Hey does anyone know where and if I can rent one of these? I am already set up inside my place but I'm thinking using one of these to project on the side of a house when the sun goes down during a summertime pool party might be awesome!

But, other than that, I wouldn't get much use out of it...so I'd rather rent on that buy one....

Don't forget its not JUST for movies, imagine playing XBOX360 or PS3 in high def with surround sound, picture this your playing fall of men or Gears of war and you have to duck every time the badies shoot at you or a plane flies overhead and all on a MASSIVE screen.

They should call it Home Cinema Gaming!

Great idea... and you should be able to rent one from any company that rents computer gear. I know down here in Dallas you can...

Google "projector rental new york" and you're good to go.
