New HD monitor JVC DT-V24L1D

Hi,

i saw some days ago that there was a new product for hd monitoring (http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/press_res.jsp?model_id=MDL101631&feature_id=08) JVC , that is not so expensive considering the fact that it is a full hd. It has also a dvi input, so i was wondering if it will be possible to output the video through the dvi.

When i ask a commercial about this , he told me that it was better to use the hd-sdi, but he didn't tell me that it will not work. So if anyone has ever see it work.

Thx.

Oups!

I corrected the link. Actuelly the monitor can be found around 4000$ what is IMO not so expensive for what it is. The Panasonic monitor is about the same price but is only 720p.

Anyone has seen this one?

Is there a consensus at the moment among those of you doing professional post work, as to an ideal choice of HD monitor for final color correction of HVX footage? That is, for people that have siginficant projects that need to hold up to close scrutiny, but aren't operating at a level where they'll be taking the footage to a pro colorist/ online house at the end?

I've been using the Panny BT-LH1700LW, which has some tradeoffs, but reportedly has reasonably accurate color. But I'm wondering if it's pretty close to as accurate as it gets? Or, aside from resolution differences, how it'd compare say to this JVC.

Thanks!

Today I had the chance to compare the BT-LH2600 with the DT-V24L1D. First of all I came to the store to see the differences between the BT-LH2600 and the DT-V1710. I was really astonished how accurate the picture on the LCD looked like (I had my doubts because all professionells around me prefer a CRT). But when the guy in the store switched the DT-V24L1D at my HVX200 (with some own footage on it) I was blown away. Now I can really see what this camera is able to do.
Today my pockets are a little more empty but my studio has a new monitor.

Thanks, AD Tom, for your post.

I assume it's the JVC that you bought, yes?

Would you be willing to be a bit more specific about the differences you saw between the Panny 26" and the JVC? And at what resolutions? More info would be great!

Thanks,

Yeah, I've been asking on this forum for feedback/comparison between these two monitors. I am hoping some people at NAB view these and give feedback, although this would not be a side by side comparison.

Panasonic has Waveform, JVC does not. JVC has pixel for pixel 1080 and the Panasonic has a pixel for pixel mode with part screen viewing, though you can select, centre, top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right, etc.

Whilst the Waveform is important for me, as I intend to use the monitor both on set and in post, the color rendition and representation is what I mostly want feedback on. Issues like green cast in the blacks, have been mentioned in respect of the 17" Panasonic for a few users, although it is also questionable if the HVX200 component HD outputs may be the cause. Feedback welcome. Thanks.
