Hey guys, I just wanted to stop in and say hi. This is my first post ever. I just purchased a DVX-100B after months of savings. I used to shoot some real cheesy stuff with my old handycam, and now in my life, I am able to take the next step, with this purchase, and hopefully make a descent short. I am working on a script right now with my roommate. The whole thing will be about 5 minutes long. Well I just wanted to say hi, this seems ike a good message board. Hopefully talk to you guys soon.

Good luck, I'm in the same boat as I am ready to make the 'plunge' to get my 100b. This is a great forum with many knowledgeable people...

billybob,

Welcome and congrats on your new camera.

It's nice that you are posting in the screenwriting section. DVXuser is definitely about the hardware first. There are lots of people here concentrating on getting a "cool film look" but they rarely stop to think about story. Story is everything.

Good luck,

Chris

Welcome billybob. I just got a dvx100b several weeks ago. It's awesome. I think your gonna love it. Maybe you should incorporate a super hero into your 5 minute script and submit it in Hero-Fest. You've got till the end of this month. Read about it on the Hero-Fest thread.

hey everyone thankyou for your replies! Looks like ai defenitly found the right message board. And everyone here seems to be cool....I just hope my up coming films dont dissapoint you all.

Don't worry, there's lots of disappointments here (and a lot more to come once I start posting my films!), it's part of learning and people here are generally good at giving constructive criticism.

Good stuff on the new cam - I'm a 2 week old DVXer myself.

I too came to this site to learn the technical camera information, but I also spent two years working on the screenplay for my feature. Never understimate the importance of the script.

Well, my screenplay is a feature, not a short. Also, that was two years on and off, and I had a full-time job the whole time so it's not like it was eight hours a day for two years. I worked hard on the screenplay, but I think I made it sound more dramatic than it really was.
