New Fuji Medium Format Mirrorless "Rangefinder style" announced today - GFX 50R

For our still photography needs, who needs FF when you can go Medium Format (sensor 1.7 times bigger) for not much more money?

Rangefinder style
Compact and lightweight body
Weather resistant structure
43.8x32.9mm 51.4MP CMOS medium format sensor
X-Processor Pro
2.36M-dot touchscreen LCD back panel
FUJINON GF Lens

The video output is not that good - just HD like the 50s.

As usual Newshooter digs both cameras on their video performance, when no one buying either of these gives a rats ass about video.

I am looking at the GFX 50R.

I'll use my XT-3 for video.

I think people will give a rats ass about video on the the GFX 100S because:

Medium Format 102 megapixels (sensor is 1.7 x larger than FF).
4K / 30p / 10 bit 4:2:0 internal / 10 bit 4:2:2 out through HDMI.
IBIS.

This will be the first Medium Format camera in the world with IBIS.
Because of Fuji's G-Mount and because this is mirrorless there are already smart adaptors on the market and many FF lenses will cover the image circle of the sensor.

Having said that I'm looking at the 50R myself for stills (at the moment I use the X100F for my documentary photography).

Cinema 5D just posted an interview on these 2 cameras with a Fuji guy:

I agree.

But jeez, we are basically potentially looking at a 65mm digital cinema camera for $10K! You can't even buy the Arri Alexa 65, it's rental only.
