yeah i saw the first post but thought i would actually ask since I didnt really post it. I made it when I was bored in my hotel in NY city. last weekend, nobody's complained so thats a good thing. I just wasnt sure about the little camera thing, it would be nice to have some sort of DVXlogo you know, to make shirts and stuff. I think its finally time to get some real shirts made, instead of that Cafepress crap.

logo is ok then?... might be cool to have a big logo on the front with dvxuser on the back or vice versa.

You know I love you Jarred, but honestly I think this logo is a step backwards. ...Or maybe you longtimers were just happy to see anything different up there. ;D
Despensing the tough love now:
IMO The "little camera" does not fit well. It's an old film camera. (Last time I checked most of us don't use Arri or Panavision.) I understand the symbolism, but it looks cartoonish and cheap. We should use an outlined drawing of a DV camera (with the monitor flipped out or something more engaging and exciting).
plus, what's with the bevel effect (the last logo had it too)? Design wise,the bevel effect went out of style 10 years ago and is typicaly a cheap effect (like the lensflare). Whenever somoene tries to design a logo on their own they always go right for the bevel effect or lensflare!
Are you trying to give it the same beveled look as the Panasonic Logo on our cameras? Because it's not there yet.
Also, I said it once before, ".com" is not required on your own website. People here know where they are. If you had an odd extension like ".cc" or ".tv" then yes, use it in the logo. But ".com" is typically used ONLY when you're advertising on another site. Plus, the logo is off balanced with ".com" and is WAY too long (3 different levels). If you had a shorter name/logo then I'd say leave it on, but DVXuser is balanced perfectly without the .com.
Okay, so why doesn't P.K. try to make a logo? I did, 2 weeks ago. But it wasn't accepted :'( But I'm just one person. We have a VERY talented group of indivduals here, surely someone can whip out a good clean design that Jarred will like, or we can develope one together, over time. Sorry for the tough love, I just REALLY love this site and TRULY believe it's worthy of a professional logo.
Does anyone else agree? Come on guys, let me have it. (Just keep it above the belt.)

We dont need a .com to show us what it is. This place is and has evolved into something more; we're not selling a product or a service (ala the dot commers).
The LOGO should be 'superfly killer uber arse' and not a beveled design. Something photorealistic almost. Somethign that really shows the DVX100 and the future of the DV Filmmaking nation.
