I just finished shooting my first short "Friday Mourning" using my new DVX100a. I jumped right into this project without doing much testing so I basically learned on the fly, And what a learning experience it was. I shot and edited it using 24pa Advanced. Please check it out and any feedback and constructive criticism is encouraged.

As a gimmicks/training short it was very good. But I felt the foley and extreme closeup/fisheye were too much. Some of the cuts were way too fast, especially when she is talking to someone. You do not have to show character who is speaking 100% of the time. But better than my first attempt would be if I did one.

Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah besides Kelly who had some previous acting experience this was the other two's first attempt. I kind of drafted them into the project and worked my rear off to get them to do as good as they did! It's funny when you ask someone you know to be in a project they come to the set thinking it's all fun and games that will only take an hour or two until they see the lights and camera and the seriousness of it when you say "Action"! That's when reality hits and they turn on you!! If learned one thing since I started making movies is that using friends is just flat out a bad idea! For now on "Acting experience is required!" Commandment Number 14 in my little movie bible!! As for as the wide look, I don't know I just like the look, I think it adds to the quirkyness and surrealism of it all. Plus it was a very small cabin! lol!! Someone told me that I need to lock down my camera settings! How do I do that?

Thanks,
Rob

Good Job! It was great considering it was your first short.
I like how it begins with the screen coming closer like that. Although it could move a little faster.
