Box is under my desk iwth new DVX begging to be tinkered with. Will 5 o' clock ever come?! Perhaps I'll pull the fire alarm...

Can't you put a box in your seat, with a hat on top of it and a coat around it to diguise that it's a box and not you? Then you could be out in this beautiful sunshine taking Disjecta like footage :)

Not a bad idea, Larry. With the accessories I bought, this very box might be big enough to do the trick...

Ooooo, you got your DVX, congrats and you got your case too. Let me know how that case works for you. The other one you suggested to me was discontinued. Have fun!

No case yet. That comes tomorrow. Did you call about that discontinued model? I thought maybe that's why they were on clearance - they wanted to move the remaining stock of that discontinued model.

(41 minutes to go...)

I have not yet called them...I am going to check out the local Lowes and see what they have to offer, then revisit that option.

Almost there, hold on. I didn't get mine till after 5 and they SENT IT TO THE WRONG SUITE!

I just called for you, Zack. You're right - discontinued and no longer in stock. Sorry about that. I might be checking out the Home Depot myself in the next couple of weeks for a soft "day case". We'll compare notes later.

Man, I've had a long-awaited package sent to the wrong address. That sucks! Even worse is being sent the wrong merchandise and having to start all over. I'm good on both those counts this time. Just need that clock to move!

(20 minutes to go!)

Congratulations! Don't forget to let the DVX stay in the box for a while after you open the lid. It's really frightened right now. It needs to adjust. It's best to the let the DVX come out when it's ready. Maybe place some carrots or MQ tapes, near the box.

:)

Don't forget to post some grabs or footage. Have fun!

LOL!!

I'm outta here!!! Your advice is duely noted, PK, but I'm afraid it's going to be baptism by fire for the DVX. I hope I don't traumatize it!!! I'll be gentle with the little guy, though. I'll tuck a napkin in my shirt so I don't slobber all over it. :)

Whatever you do, don't point it towards the sun. And no laser beams. Everything else eesallgood. Congrats. :)

Please tell me my camera's not broken!!! What's that rattle!?

Please tell me my camera's not broken!!! What's that rattle!?

Just kidding! But I will admit that my heart sank when I first noticed it. Took off the lens cap. Rattle. Took off the shade. Rattle. Took off the shockmount and mic. Still the rattle! OH SH*T!! Looked through the manual - nothing (or so I thought...)

Thank you, dvxuser.com, for sparing me the indignity of calling Panasonic freaking out! All said, my panic fit lasted well under 5 minutes thanks to a quick search. I will say this, though - why not put that in a prominent place EARLY in the manual? I guess to torture newbies like me...

Now that's editing! I should have known to look to your book first. Thanks for keeping us neophytes in mind.
