New Custom Nikon Mount For Letus Is Available

That is after the £70 shipping added.

The price for the package is £694 ($1,397 USD). Again, this includes the SGpro w/flip, 15mm rods support, Nikon mount and an aluminium flight case!

When you compare packages from different manufacturers, you need to remember to include everything needed, rods support, rods to adapter mount, flight case, mounts...otherwise it is not a fair comparison.

Used Jared's sheet which puts it at 1520.00. AkA fixed.

Point was that I still think that the Nikon Mount upgrade is fair, especially if it's an exchange/upgrade deal considering what the Letus is.

I wonder if anyone takes the time to really price these upgrades out with competing adapter manufacturers?

The Letus Extreme costs 1200 right now. It's Pre-Flipped, one-all inclusive unit. That's no rails but includes your choice of mount.

Let's run numbers:

M2 w/No Flip - 1400.00 (rails HD bundle)
Brevis w/Flip and Rails - 1405
SGpro W/Flip and Rails - 1600.00
Letus Extreme Pre-Flipped - 1200.00
Letus Extreme w/flip and rails is also $1,600 like the SGpro

Looks like to me the Letus should really be at 1400 with all that it's offering. That would include your 100.00 Nikon mount which should be noted sells for about 100 on both the SGpro site and M2 site.

The only one that touches the Letus Extreme in Price point is the Brevis unit w/flip bundle discount. Now there's a premium Nikon mount (Which should be noted as Premium) that normally sells for 100.00 on the SGpro and Redrock site available. They've also offered the exchange/upgrade option. It's an UPGRADE not a FIX. It's a NEW Nikon mount, not a "fixed Nikon mount".
It's a matter of how you see it. To me it is fix because an upgrade would add a new feature not only fix a known problem.

This kind of attitude deters manufacturers from upgrading their product at all. Take the time to process information and understand from both sides of the fence, consumer and manufacturer. Does Panasonic or Canon exchange your camera for free when they upgrade it? No. I don't see why we expect the generous community involved manufacturers such as Redrock, Letus, Brevis, or SGpro (Did I leave someone out?) to offer upgrades MARKED as upgrades for free.
Again, should we stop saying that the Panasonic HVX200 is too grainy? No, Panasonic should know what we want. Will they have a fix for free of course not. They will make a totally new camera like Sony did with the EX1.

This includes the EX-1 Achromat kit.
The unit should have been tested before it was sold. The consumer has the right to decide if they don't mind the edge softness or if they want to pay the extra price for a different achromat. that is their decision. Once you spend $1,200 for a useless piece of equipment, you have no choice but to buy the extra achromat.

Let's all back off of the manufacturers and realize that what they're offering us would be a "hell no" from anyone else. Try that with the Mini35 people and be laughed at in a different langauge.
If these companies don't want people to voice their opinions and don't do upgrades. There will be a market for new ones to do it.

I can't live in fear of what they may think. I pay with my hard earned cash, so I can speak my mind.

EDITED: Knowing what I know I would still would have bought the same adapter (LEX)

Thanks for the edit with the table, much more accurate.

Yes, the Letus Nikon mount is more than fair, it is an option after all.

It has nothing to do with the adapter. It was the lens of the EX-1. These adapters were never a part of Camera Manufacturer's plans when they created lenses that perform just fine without the addition of a Frankenstein contraption such as a 35mm Adapter.

The fact that someone actually corrected it inside of an adapter THIS QUICKLY is insane.

I'm not about to argue with anyone on the subject. Take it with a grain of salt: You pay to play in the business. Again, you wouldn't demand Panasonic give you an upgrade to your camera for free.

NOISE is a problem, bet you'll PAY to upgrade to the next HVX200 if the Noise "problem" is fixed.

Just sayin'!

USELESS? wow. You certainly could and can use the unit without the new achromat.

There is a new HVX achromat available soon according to Letus. I will buy it as it will IMPROVE the unit. I have shot COMMERCIAL video with it as it is... far from useless

You had an option all along friend, send it back and buy something else if you werent happy with it.

I don't get you. Are you try to say that as long as they are all cheaper than the original P+S 35mm it is o.k to sell things that are faulty ?

The point is that it doesn't matter how much they sell it for. If they sell it in the first place, It should work like it was made for. If it doesn't work in the first place, why are they selling it . It shouldn't have been sold it at all. Why should I pay for something that is faulty.

If you say that this is an upgrade that can make better looking pictures . I don't mind paying. It is like the advance in technology that they came out with a better G.G or a better flip unit that decreased that light loss even further

But the point is that the mount is faulty in the first place. It wobbles and it not stable. Why should i pay for something that is in the first place faulty. I didn't ask for the new mount to have micro tuning facilities that can fly or make me superman. I only wanted a new mount to replace that wobbliness of the old mount.

Look at Brevis. They sold faulty Canon FD mount at the beginning and then when they made new ones. They only charged for the shipping. It think it is only fair that Letus charge for shipping to the existing customers that have the older faulty Nikon lens mount ( I'm not sure as some of you might not have the wobblines).

Wow, I am with Kholi. I have the LEX and the included Nikon mount, while not the best engineered piece on the unit, it worked okay if you took the time to set it up right and tweak it. I have already done three shoots with it and nobody has done anything but rave about how great the picture looked.

I just placed my order for the new Nikon mount because it is better (more robust construction and a back focus function), it's not a "fix" for a defective Nikon mount. I am keeping my original mount as a spare. In the same situation, if you went to any of the big manufacturers like Sachtler, Anton Bauer or any of the others when they offered a better upgrade and asked them for it for free, they would tell you to take a hike. It's one thing when a piece of gear is defective but based upon my experience and speaking with other LEX owners, the included original Nikon mount was okay, this new one is better.

I feel that the Le brothers have been responsive, honest and up front with LEX buyers. I love my Letus rod system and the LEX, they have both been great pieces of gear and were very reasonably priced.

If you want to deal with a company that historically has been unresponsive and has always gouged users when they can, that would be Sony. Talk to the original VX-2000/2100/PD-150/170 owners when Sony shipped the cameras with a fully defective and unusable audio path. Sony then begrudgingly admitted that the PD cameras were "slightly defective" and offered a fix, FOR A FEE! This was to re-wire the audio path and the fix still resulted in a lousy sounding camera. The VX series owners had to just live with it as Sony stated that the bad audio was "within the specs for a consumer camcorder" even though it sounded horrible. And Sony only begrudgingly admitted wrong doing when threatened with bad publicity and a class action lawsuit.

That, my friends, is a company that handled a defect unfairly NOT the Le Brothers.

Best,

Dan

No doubt about it, Dan. My Nikon mount has been working FINE and that's going out on Rentals just about WEEKLY. Note, I've been using it with the Redrock Follow Focus (Best Follow Focus you can buy under 1000.00!!! And probably anything above.) and haven't had any sort of issue to report as far as not being able to use my Nikon lenses. I'll be happy to pay the extra money for the new mount with collimation action and will be doing so as soon as I save up some money.

I'm still surviving off of beans and weiners here.

This probably just isn't true, but, I feel like the involvement of the adapter manufacturers directly with DVXuser (while a novel thought) is becoming a bad idea. Simply because Users begin to expect a lot more from them than they would a normal manufacturer such as Dan Listed.

Maybe I'm wrong about that, but I sure don't expect any of these guys, from Coollights to Cinevate, to give free upgrades which are clearly marked upgrade.

I have one too (RR FF), it worked pretty well on my last shoot. I just wish that cheap Nikon lenses didn't breathe so much but hey, you get what you pay for, right?

Dan

It has nothing to do with the adapter. It was the lens of the EX-1.
This is just another misleading answer. There is nothing wrong with the EX-1 Lens. The HVX CCD is no off center. It is the adapter that is not correctly aligned and the achromat is not good for the EX-1.
These adapters were never a part of Camera Manufacturer's plans when they created lenses that perform just fine without the addition of a Frankenstein contraption such as a 35mm Adapter.
Who came first the chicken or the egg. The adapter has to accommodate to the camera.

I'm not about to argue with anyone on the subject. Take it with a grain of salt: You pay to play in the business. Again, you wouldn't demand Panasonic give you an upgrade to your camera for free.
They have made a lot of upgrades for FREE since I got one of the first cameras.

NOISE is a problem, bet you'll PAY to upgrade to the next HVX200 if the Noise "problem" is fixed.
In a heart bit. Just like I am ordering the new mount.

USELESS? wow. You certainly could and can use the unit without the new achromat.

Mine works fine so unless it improves overall quality I won't buy it. The LEX is as sharp edge to edge as I need.

Nikon doesn't make a back focus adjustment. There mount works with all the cameras and lenses. So defect is with adapter's mount. Therefor it is a fix not an upgrade.

the included original Nikon mount was okay, this new one is better.
Do you have it already to see if this one is the last "UPGRADE". I bought mine with a Nikon mount I expected a NIKON mount.

I feel that the Le brothers have been responsive, honest and up front with LEX buyers. I love my Letus rod system and the LEX, they have both been great pieces of gear and were very reasonably priced.

AGREED

No doubt about it, Dan. My Nikon mount has been working FINE and that's going out on Rentals just about WEEKLY. **** I'll be happy to pay the extra money for the new mount with collimation action and will be doing so as soon as I save up some money.

Is it FINE? Why would you pay extra money for a new one.

By the way let me get the prices right.
If you buy a new LEX you pay $39 extra
To "UPGRADE" you pay $59

That tells me that the actual price is around $20. That should be the replacement cost.

I thought it was $39 when I enter the page to order when I notice the $59 price. I was also going to get a set of extra rails, but for $59 I won't be getting the "UPGRADE" or the rails from Letus.

Letus loss is Indirails' gain.

The upgrade is $59 but you keep the original Nikon mount
The addon for currently pending or new orders is $39
The mount, stand-alone, is $99

We try to be fair in any add-ons like this. There will always be those who are not happy no matter what we do.

I bought a laptop a few weeks before the new [SIZE=-1]Penryn processor was released. Do I want want to upgrade because it is the latest and greatest? Yes. Do I really need it? No. Do I expect a free upgrade? Certainly not.

There is much consideration put into EVERY thing that is released. We realize that there is no way to please everyone but we do the best we can to make things fair.

Upgrades like this are a double edged sword. We are pleased to be able to offer new and improved products to make life easier for Letus users but on the other hand, there will always be those who are not happy with investing in advancements and are more than willing to voice said concerns.

This not pointed at any one person. Feedback is what allows us to evolve. I just wanted to let everyone know that decisions are not taken lightly. There is much deliberation and consideration when bringing new advancements out of the labs.

Thank you all for your continued support and feedback.

Hummmmm. Understandable (DeGray)
Hummmm.. existing customers still paying $99 compare to new customers (only 39.00 add on)... LOL

But You know what! I'll still buy it, Buy It and Buy it.

Wait-a-minute!! This is very important, I need quick advise. what are we suppose to do with defective mount (The 1 we suppose to keep it)?? (LOL>LOL)

Still love my EX. Love you guys.... good work

they also bumped up the price of an additional lens mount from $30 to $60 if I'm not mistaken. But that's nothing to complain about.

Pictures as requested. These aren't the best. I snapped them under room lighting just to get something posted. We'll get some better versions up later this weekend. Anyway, new on the left, old on the right. Front and back.

Oh, and Patrick, we didn't change the price of additional mounts. They've been $60 since launch :)

The new one is awesome. Ordered one yesterday - can't wait to use it.

How is the backfocus adjustable on the new one?
