new computer

Ouch. Yeah, there was a reason for you not to buy it: AMD processor.

You can pretty much get better performance for the same price from Dell at the moment. Waiting time hurts, but Core 2 r0x the h0uz. I'm about to post my build in another thread.

Sorry no one got to ya before ya bought. But more than likely you'll be fine with it.

Best Buy has AMD systems cheap. The whole price-drop thing recently rippled into the stores and you could basically walk into a store and get a complete system for that price.

Saw this thread too late. That video card is poor to average at best and thats a factor when your editing (assuming you do).

It is a factor in editing? I was told that video card didn't matter.

At least in Vegas, supposedly the video card would only matter for previewing magic bullet effects.

I'm not sure how much the video card matters in programs like Premiere and Vegas. Getting into other applications (after effects, motion) might. either way-- using an onboard graphics chipset actually puts more strain on your CPU... so it's imperative to get a good one either way.

Which drives the price up at least another 100.00 dollars.

So a video card will help preview in Vegas? I was told that Vegas didn't use the video card at all. I think it was by David Jimmerson.

the great thing about technology...

when the 4800+ was released less than two years ago, amd sold it for $1,001.

if you're just working with vegas, you don't need a powerful card. but if you're using software like magic bullet, then it will definitely make a difference.
