I am building a new machine for ppro 2 and have decided on most but what I need help with is deciding which video card and monitor(s) to go with.\

I want to have premier up on either 2 lcd's and a tv ( is this possible ) or just one big lcd and a tv.

can I preview the ppro timeline on a tv

one card i thought about was the quadro fx 540:)

All you need is a cheap firewire card and a digital camcorder for viewing your timeline and edits on a television.

A more powerful video card and processor will speed up render times for effects like Magic Bullet.

You can hook up 2 monitors to most video cards...but I like using 1 larger widescreen monitor.

Check the Adobe web site for supported hardware. The right video card will take advantage of a lot of features. Even Magic Bullet will render near real-time with the right card.

It really depends on what your going to edit. I'm editing almost exclusively HD and use the Dell 24" LCD [works great] with the FX540 with component HD out to a 42" plasma.

If you want to edit HD you can't stream the video out of a firewire card through the camera to view on your TV.

Also if your thinking about editing HD you need to put a little more thought into your system configuration. I have read a lot of threads where people go out and buy the fastest processor, drives and tons of RAM only to find that the performance was not nearly as good as they expected. How you configure your system will depend on what kind of HD you'll be editing.

Another graphics card that you might want to check out is the Matrox Parhelia, I have heard good things about that card but I have not used one. I also use SoftImage XSI and I chose the FX540 because it has good [not great] OpenGL performance [which also works well in After Effects].

I just recenty picked up one of the Dell 24" wide screens and kept my 19" as a second monitor. When editing I pull off Effects and Audio window to my 19" and it gives me a lot of room to edit on the 24". As far as a video card, if you like to play games (like doom or Half Life) the gaming cards work well for editing too cuz they are very powerful. A good gaming card will work well other wise get a FireGL for some high end action. How fat is your wallet?
