New Century mattebox?

Does anyone know about a new Century Optics mattebox for the DVX? In my search for a more economic solution for a set-up with wide or anamorphic adapters, I came across this thread over on 2-pop. The last post is from a guy who says he has already bought a new mattebox from Century that is good for the wide AND anamorphic adapters!

However, there is no mention of a new mattebox on Century's site. Vocas (who make Century's matteboxes) do have a DV Mattebox MkII which MAY be what this post is talking about, but this product does not fit the anamorphic as far as I can tell. See:

Anyone throw any more light on this (if you forgive the slight pun)?

Re: New Century mattebox?

We showed a new Wide Angle matte box at Cine Gear a couple of weeks ago, it is available as a clamp-on (U.S.$1069 )or with 15mm rods, french flag kit (U.S.$1549). The new 15mm rod adapter also raises the camera up to match Arri matte boxes. We needed the matte box to work with the DVX with our .7X WA adapter. It does. We have not tried it with the Pana anamorph, but we will get one and try it. It still might need to have the lens shade cut off (the anamorph). I will post the results.

Re: New Century mattebox?

Thank you much Barry, what do you suggest for shooting with the anamorphic? I figure the Chrosziel, which I think is what I am going to get. I really just don't know where to take it to get the lip cut off the ana, and not pay an arm and a leg for it

Re: New Century mattebox?

its soft plastic the ana adapter, and you should be able to do it yourself very easy. I know you can get Chrosz to do it for you, but if you are fairly competent with a xacto blade you shouldnt have a problem.

Re: New Century mattebox?

There are really only two options at this time: either get the Chrosziel and shave the adapter, or velcro a Matteblox french flag to it, and live without filters. There aren't any other options that I know of (well, there's always the rent-a-6x6-box option...)

Re: New Century mattebox?

I got an anamorphic from EVS (EVSonline.com)
They had the modification done for me ($150) it fits the Chrosziel 411-53pk.
