New Canon 70-200 f2.8 III and 70-200 f4 Lenses

Canon has launched new versions of their 70-200 lenses.

The 70-200 f2.8 IS L II USM was already a great lens. Canon has now come with the version III.
According to B&H the price is $2099 USD.

The 70-200 f2.8 L IS III USM lens has Air Sphere coating, One Fluorite and 5 UD elements, 9 blade diaphragm. Front filter size remains same at 77mm. weight is 1.44kg. This is one lens which I will definitely buy.

The 70-200 f4 L IS II is $1299 usd.
I has one fluorite and 2 UD elements.
 
It seems to be that the f/2.8 III only has changes to the coatings vs II. It would be nice if they also improved some of the components so that it is less likely to go off center.

The f/4 looks to be a really nice upgrade.
 
Both of these lenses are great in previous versions and am sure the new versions will be better. Kudos for Canon keeping the pricing sane as in the past new lenses=price increases.

17-55mm seems to be such a favorite focal range for a stabilized documentary lens. An L-lens version of the 17-55 would be incredibly useful. Most importantly, trying to give the focus ring a better feel. The focus ring on the 70-200mm is amazing.

Also, graduating the mount from EF-s to Ef so that folks don't need to hack it for speedbooster use.
 
There are no EF-S L lenses. I highly doubt there ever will be.

The 17-55 also pretty much has to stay an EF-S lens. I can’t even imagine what a 17-55/2.8 for full frame would look like and cost.
