New Battery for Laptop?

I use an HP F700 laptop (unfortunately) and not only has the battery run out of juice, now the power AC adapter has died after 2 years use. I'm looking for a replacement charger. I looked up the "spare" HP suggested to use on Amazon, and it's a cheap 10 dollar piece of crap. A lot of other adapters on amazon and such say "genuine" but according to reviews seem just as crappy. If I buy a replacement through HP direct, it'll cost 60 or 70 bucks!

Basically, I'm looking for a decent place online where I can buy a new AC adapter for my laptop that'll last me a couple of years at least. I'm not giving HP 60 bucks for more faulty equipment.

I'd like to keep it 30 bucks or under...I think this is reasonable for an AC charger. I've seen places or sellers through amazon offering at these prices, but I can't tell which places are legit since they all have stupid names. Before anyone suggests newegg, I tried it already.

Thanks.

before you buy the adapter, make sure that is the problem. before it stopped working completely, did you go through a period where it would work if you jiggled around the wire? with one of my laptops the problem was the solder on the motherboard cracked, so i couldn't get a charge. i ended up getting another laptop.

When I plug it in, the "charge/power" icon turns on for a few seconds, then turns off. It had been doing this for a few days and sometimes the computer would just turn off. i thought it was over heating but since the battery is dead the power was just switching off. The computer end of my AC plug has broken and gotten worse, with the wires starting to expose. My guess is this is causing the problem, as I've read of others experiencing the same thing.

Hpwever....

Now that I think about it, it may be the actual computer. When I hit the on switch, it starts up for about 1 second, then powers down
