[I like to watch footage from the 60s-70s-80s-90s on YouTube (like real non-commercial/non-Hollywood footage from people casually filming or from some documentary-type coverage) and always think about how amazing it would have been to capture some of those times with today's quality. Just seeing people living in those decades through a different lens (a different camera, really) would be so cool to watch right now.]

Looks great! But how does NASA lose a ton of 65mm footage that only gets discovered a half century later?
They can send people to the moon but can't properly archive/catalogue some celluloid?
Seems like a job opening that needs to be filled or maybe was recently filled.
Also, I hope they scanned it to 8K.

Easy... They had such budget problems that they recorded over several missions data and video tapes and we (as humans) lost a huge chunk of history.

Gotcha. So they didn't actually lose it, they just hadn't looked at it in a long time.
Years ago I was in Florida on a business trip and on a day off had the choice to visit Disney World / Epcot Center or Kennedy Space Center. I spent the day at Kennedy Space center and it was an awe-inspiring experience. Since childhood I was fascinated by military vehicles, especially aircraft, and can still identify just about every US+RUS jet and most WWII aircraft. I grew up in San Diego and just about every year would visit the Miramar Top Gun Airshow (now MCAS), and in college worked on base at the Navy exchange selling Apple computers.
2001 was an amazing work by Stanley Kubrick and even today the special effects look quite good, especially when it was released in 1968, before Apollo 11 in 1969.
Over the years new information has surfaced that is quite puzzling regarding NASA. The information seems to be quite polarizing, with people getting very emotional to even question that the US government would not tell us the truth. That said, the concept of National Security is valid to protect the country, and thus if certain information was suppressed and/or misinformation was released, especially during the Cold War, it makes sense.
After studying quantum physics and electromagnetism, especially quantum field theory and various real-world experiments, it's plausible that there are other far more effective and efficient means to travel to space vs. chemical rockets. Here's a plausible timeline from this research. It could be a script for a ScFi movie or a documentary, depending on one's belief system:
1945 WWII ends: Operation Paperclip brings all the top German scientists and technology to the US. Foo fighters were photographed and never fully disclosed.
1947 late February, Operation High Jump in Antarctica is terminated 6 months early. Rumors of advanced flying objects reported (and "debunked" by various sources).
1947 June 24th, Kenneth Arnold reported flying objects in WA state, looking more like German Horton flying wings vs. saucers, reported flight motion as 'skipping like a saucer' and thus the media labelled them "flying saucers".
1947 around July 8, Roswell: something crashed near Roswell NM. First disclosed as a "flying saucer" then a weather balloon. Consider the possibility of an advanced flying vehicle developed by Operation Paperclip scientists. If the German scientists were disclosed working on advanced flying vehicles, it would have been very unpopular in 1947.
1980 December 26 & 28, RAF Woodbridge, Rendelsham Forest, UK, an advanced vehicle lands and is observed by US military personnel.
1989 Bob Lazar reports advanced vehicle research and development at Area 51 and S4. Subsequently records glowing flying vehicles with friends outside the base, and is later terminated from employment. Records show he did work for Los Alamos. His story is that he was helping to reverse engineer alien vehicles. What if his report was disinformation- cover for Earth-developed advanced vehicles?
Over the years many more sighting are recorded, from many military, police, and pilot sources. The media and government discredits and ridicules any reports regarding these advanced vehicles. Tons of documentaries and TV shows become very popular on the subject.

We have three possibilities:
The Pentagon material is fake
The Pentagon is disclosing the existence of an advanced flight system made on Earth: Space Force
The Pentagon is disclosing the existence of extraterrestrial or ‘break-away civilization’ (not created by known governments) flying vehicles

A compelling possibility is that we did reach the moon, however probably before 1969, using advanced field propulsion technology (vs. chemical rockets), and this entire time NASA has been running on a much more primitive level as disclosed to the public and the world. Where the real space capability is far more advanced, reasoned by those in charge for National Security. There’s a lot of puzzling facts regarding Apollo 11 which one can research on their own (including Kubrick’s possible role + the “slow motion” movement vs. 1/6 gravity for moon footage). It’s possible the Pentagon + government is starting soft disclosure about the so-called Secret Space Program now perhaps called “Space Force” which has been operating since around 1947. Interesting timing of this Apollo 11 documentary.
In summary, it appears like this is going to be a wild ride whichever way it goes! (provided the Pentagon footage isn’t fake)

While drones seem likely (my first reaction (using hidden thrusters))- being able to drop from 80,000 ft to water level then back fairly quickly is beyond mass / propulsion systems using props/rotors/rockets/jets. The comment ‘Accelerated Like Nothing I’ve Ever Seen’ from a highly trained F18 pilot means it's not a camera panning artifact, etc. That said, I'd like to see radar and/or camera data showing such acceleration.
If drones, why would the DIA/DoD/Pentagon release the footage along with 'super-performance' testimony? The DIA/DoD/Pentagon certainly know what a drone looks like and how they can accelerate. What's the agenda?

While they are stating other-worldly craft, it's more likely an Earth-based vehicle (perhaps an early drone with electrogravitic propulsion causing plasma/corona discharge), and perhaps Lazar's true "job" was to leak this kind of footage as part of a disinformation campaign.
