New AE guy w/ questions

Hey guys/gals,

I'm still new to AE and have a big project coming where I'll need to use AE quite a bit. I have AE CS2 and will be using 24p footage shot on a DVX100a, scene file 5 with no changes to the settings.

I have a few questions. Please forgive me ahead of time... some of them are elementary.

In PP2.0 I'll be importing 24p footage to a 30fps timeline. When I import the footage into AE will I be importing it as 24p or 30fps footage?

What aspect ratio will I be using? I'm using letterbox (bars on top and bottom of the shot footag).

Will I be using square or round pixels?

Is the 24p footage using 3:2 pulldown? If so, which setting will I be using: WSSWW, SSWWW, SWWWS, WWWSS or WWSSW?

Considering the footage I'm using is 24p, not 24pa, I don't use the 24pa setting for the 3:2 pulldown do I?

What size file (duration in time) would be considered large enough someone would want to cosider using the Proxy Footage setting? (I have 2gb of RAM).

Sorry for asking beginner questions..... I really appreciate the help!

Thanks!

Most of that stuff will be automatically interrupted by AE. I don't use Premiere, but when I import QT's with pulldown, etc, AE does a pretty good job of interrupting the footage correctly. I would hope it's as smooth, if not smoother, with Premiere.

As for aspect ratio, PAR, etc, that all depends on your output and workflow. What's your final output? Do you plan on going back to Premiere? Etc...

It should come over as non-square pixels (.9 PAR, there are no round pixels by the way) and 720x480 comp with the footage letterboxed. It's been a while since I used a DVX or SD, but I believe that's right. I can't remember how the anamorphic works, if you shot it such, and that'd be the wild card with a 1.2 PAR.
