NEW ADAPTER: Redrock M2 Encore

If all the adapter companies could release footage before the claims it would be a great ideal, and this would eliminate any and all false promises and allow for the end user to not wait on a product that may not deliver on the promises , giving them the oportunity to move on to a product that is already proven.

not saying the new encore won't deliver, it's just more so alot of manufactures tend to push the cart before the horse.

Hi hoarp

Yes the Encore will be there, reprsented by Production Gear. I will be there in spirit, but not in person :)

i've got an hmc150, so if i wanted to get this adapter without the kit then i'd need to purchase the m2e lens adapter and the mircox encore achromat? and thats it? or do i not need the acromat?

wait a minute.. this wasn't answered. So you need to buy an achromat in addtion to the standalone? if so, what's the point of the stand alone... i think the other adapter company's standalone models are full functional.

I have an hv20 and was planning to mount it upside down.. so all I would need is the stand alone + achromat to save costs right?.. I'm trying to go the cheapest route. I have a rod system already.

Has anyone on here had any experience with this adapter? I'm trying to decide if it's really worth it for me to upgrade from the original M2 to the encore.. I know the upgrade isn't too much money, but $545 is still a fair size chunk of change.

Also.. is it compeltely necessary to get the MicroX upgrade as well? or will the original MicroX still work fine with the encore?

I'd say go for the Encore MicroX personally... but I'm pretty sure you can use the M2e with the old microX. The reason for the MicroX Encore is to enable use with larger camera sensors like the 1/2" EX-1s and EX-3s.

No one has used the M2e yet really. They haven't shipped yet... they're brand spanking new. Around February 15th, they'll start shipping out though and that'll be good news for you!

Thanks for the info Joseph. I'm using an HVX, so that sounds like good news for my wallet haha. Do you think there will be any difference if I just use the old MicroX on my HVX instead of forking out the $500 for the new one? I'm hoping I'll be fine with just getting the upgraded internals for my M2, without needing the new MicroX as well...

What's the worst thing that can happen? You have to buy it down the road?

You'll be fine!

Yeah I realize that, but I just wasn't sure if the original MicroX was compatible with the encore package or not. And if it would be worth buying the new MicroX or if it would only make a difference on the larger sensors that you mentioned.

I think it will improve optics overall. It has 30% wider optics. It also is supposed to increase light transmission... meaning less light loss! Personally, I'd get it if I were buying today.

Hmm that does sound pretty good. Definitely something to think about! I've got a fairly long shopping list right now, so I'll have to decide what I need most lol. Thanks for the input though

Hi everyone

Stunzi has some good advice there. You can purchase the upgrades individually, and while the microX Encore isn't required, we do recommend it. It really is a great upgrade path that gives you a whole new adapter.

We also put together an FAQ for M2 customers considering upgrading to the Encore platform.

We will be seeing a lot of footage next week when it's released. We have a few projects here as well (we were rained out the weekend).
