New Aaton Penelope 4K camera with Dalsa sensor, optical vf

Amusing people in a funny forum :)

Do you not agree?

So far people are defaulting to calling it Penelope, for short... when there already is a Penelope camera... a completely different camera. Should have just gone with something completely new, imo. Not because it's not a good name, just to be clear. Don't want to rent a Penelope expecting RAW s35mm sensor camera and getting a 3-perf film camera, and maybe a digital magazine. :p

I love this description "‘cat on the shoulder’ profile"... Makes me laugh every time I see it in their literature. They have better behaved cats than mine.

Very nice.

What is the deal with that "Multi-slot" shutter? Are they not posting specs on shutter angle or shutter speed?

Kodak just announced it is getting out of the imaging business altogether. No joke. They are mainly going to focus on printers and such. Going after HP territory.

This is not speaking for the film emulsion side. No idea what they plan to do with that. I'm just talking about Kodak digital sensors and such. Seems that has a roadmap out of town.

OT for this post but a good read http://www.economist.com/node/21542796

The Dalsa Origin was years ago. This chip is many evolutions past that. For one thing, it's about the same size but is now something like 7K.

I guess Adobe might just have to start supporting CinemaDNG... Did someone say 14 stop CCD?
