New 8 ch Recorder! I have high hopes: Tascam DR-680

S/PDIF is 2 channels of digital.

also, chad, if you look at the face of the unit it only has level indicators for 1-6 on the readout and then L & R. would the spdif be the L & R?

I counted 8 then L&R. Cheers.

Weird! I've found it useless on any other than clearly matched recordings both on camera and sound recorder.

I've stated that it can't sync a shot if your camera has some other surrounding noises that your recorder hasn't.

I've emailed the developers and they were very nice though. Asked me to send the pieces that I could not match but unfortunately some other stuff came by and I ended not emailing them again.
