New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

hey, I just started working with 3dsmax and this is my 3rd model, my other models were just like simple tables and walls and stuff, this is my first hard model to do. Im about half way through modeling it. i still need to add alot of crevices and details to the bumper, windows, interior and i didnt start the rims yet..i just have the basic body almost done....tell me what you think and what i should do to make it better..the headlight was made really fast and was my first try. im probly going to make it differently tho...

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

That is an actual picture of a headlight embeded into the model is it not?

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

yes it is..i was originally planning on modeling the headlight myself..but i talked to some experienced modelers online and they said i should do it this way..thats my first try though..i have many different headlight pics i edited to use on it

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

is that a golf or what? What type of car is it? I use max myself and am thrown off by what you are doing with the headlights. You are not modeling them but using a photosourced texture? Is the resolution(polycount) of the rest of the model high? If so i would go ahead and model the headlight for the sake of continuity and realism. Good luck with max. it'll consume ya. I used to spend 8 hours a day in it, now I'm lucky to stay in it for 2 hours due to work and other hobbies.

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

yeah i started out making a normal golf using blueprints, but then i started to change it around a little so its kind of like my own concept vw...and i basicaly just threw in a pic of a headlight and fitted in on..modeling a headlight seems hard ..im not sure where to start with that..

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

3rd model . . . :o how long have you been using 3d in all?

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

3rd Model? Very Very impressive. It took me a while to get profficient. Good Job. How long have you spent on the model?

Re: New 3dsmax user, what ya think of my model?

ive only had 3dsmax for about 4 months now..but i didnt really use it that much..every now and then i would just mess around with it and try to make 3d titles for my films..and then i made a table and a horribly failed attempt at a human head..and then i tried to make a car...overall ive spent probly about 4 actual working days on it for about 4 or 5 hours each day...1 night i took my computer to my friends house and i tried to get him started with 3dsmax too and we both worked on it alot of the night (i scraped all his work cuz it wasnt up to par with mine hah)...i dont thinkits that bad for a 17 year olds 3rd or 4th actual model..but everytime i look at the cgtalk.com guy's work..mine keeps looking worse

and heres a little update of it..put more glass windows on
