Well yea the mini 35, what a beast. I almost bought one until I found out how much the lenses were. I mean 10,000 for just the adapter, then 5,000 to 16,000 for a lens. That's alot of money, especially directed to the indie film makers. It just seems stupid all that money when you could just buy a real film camera. I agree to this. I mean the adapter is to allow us, that dont have access to the prime lenses that some people have, get a much shallower dof. But geez, 10,000+ ? plus cost of lenses... I dunno. Whats the point of that? If you can drop that kind of cash on just the adapter, why dont you just buy a cam with a removable lens and it would be much easier to work with. I understand people buying them, but to ME, the image isn't work the extra 9,000 dollars plus with the mini 35. I think 99.9% of people out there would be happy with anything from these static adapters to the letus or micro35 for 1600 bucks. Maybe someone has explained before what kinda of quality the mini35 is for the extra cash, but I dont quite get it. If im not mistaken the Cannon XLs and teh H1 will accept cinema type lenses. So I would just get an H1, save the other 6000 for a kick ass lens or two. Im just saying the mini35 footage looks good, but I just dont see the who would spend so much on that one when you can get amazing stuff out of less expensive adapters.... anyone shed some light on that for me?
 
This may seem a like a newbie question, but speaking of changable lenses (canon xl1), I know nothing about the camera but I have heard that people have used like a letus adapter on their xl1's. What would be the purpose of that if you can
buy a diferent lens and put it directly on the camera? Is it the price on lenses,
or won't you be able to get shallow dof?
 
Smettli, you could get probably get the same depth of field out of changeable lenses on the XL-1, but it would be a different field of view because of the small CCD's. You can get the same depth of field out of a DVX at almost full zoom as you can out of a 55mm lens. What's the difference? Field of view. With a 55mm lens you can still get a decent shot. With a DVX at almost full zoom you've got to have your camera a good ways back from the subject in order to get decent framing. So that's about what it comes down to.
 
not only that but when you zoom into the dvx, sometimes the image is too telephoto, you can tell its field of view is smaller.

adaptes allow for interchangeable lenses AND give it a nice aeasthetic look.
 
Hi everyone here's a new MV that I'm currently working on. This is for a band name Currents, they're out of Gainesville, Florida. This is our second video together and just wanted to share. Now for the critics, this isn't any where close to being done (not even sure if we're going to keep most of what you see now). We're actually shooting the beginning and a few of the other parts this weekend so we will see what happens, and believe me you want to stick around for what I'm about to show very soon. ;)

Yes. The shots of the guy in the SG is the newest version, you'll see a big difference with this compared to the others.

my CO +7 just came in the mail, i set it up AND WOW ITS SHARP, no CA, edge to edge sharpness is beauitful.

i did something dumb. I removed the lens from the spacer tube, to air dust everything, put it all back together, and now there is even more little specs of black dust than before and i cant seem to clean it, air spray, lens wipes, nothing.. getting very frustrating.
 
It's very easy to clean, don't just dump air out of the can into the adapter. Start with the back of the adapter (72mm - 58mm stepdown ring, to the nikon lens) and work your way forward. Spray the air duster waving it from the left to right in a up right position, the dust, dirt, etc.. is probably getting caught into the grooves.

got rid of the dust :) just takes alot of time and patience

to figure out EXACTLY where the hell the piece of dust is, i tried rotating each lens and spacer from the lens, to the spacer, to the macro, to the UV lens, to the CO, spinning them one at a time to see which one shows a movement of that little dust.. saves time and energy :)
 
Alright maybe just a little peak. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) This was the first prototype, the unit we have come up with now is much more appealing. :o
