Never Ignore Late Night Phone Calls.

So, getting ready to go to bed and the phone rings. It's a contact I have been cultivating over the past year. Mainly weapons related for a couple of projects. He is also connected in the military, as he is a contracted employee for the USAF.

Well just had an hour long phone conversation. Long story short, I now know who to talk to (directly) should anyone want to film on Edwards AFB, both the NASA liason and the USAF liason. I have direct phone numbers now.

May not be big for some people, but it only adds to my book, and helps me be a hub of anything military related in So Cal. For me to get that info........is big. No messing around with a switchboard operator, I can go direct to the source.

So now I have direct contacts with the SEAL teams (Coronado), Edwards, Los Alamitos, Los Alamos (NM), Ft. Irwin, 29 Palms, Ft. Ord, and 32nd Street. Not bad for an Indie film guy.

You never know who is on the end of that call and what it could be.

LOL, I know many people think I am just a "gun guy", and some know I am an "audio guy", and only a few know I am a "cam-op guy". And, I kinda of like that anonymous aspect.

But behind the scenes, I work my hindquarters off for any aspect of film-making that involves anything military/weapons/government related. Just in case. My "book" is over an inch thick. Weapons, vehicles, aircraft, armor (present day, WWII, etc.), locations, personnel. I develop those contacts, so if I ever have a film that needs those resources, I am "Johhny on the Spot" with the info.

This was a nice addition to the book.

EDIT: David, can't promise you a mushroom cloud......But maybe getting your production onto the location ain't out of the realm of thought. If this is something you really want.......hit me up in PM, and I will start the process for you. Maybe we can get access to footage for your mushroom cloud. Something not readily available to the public. No promises, but once we get your production and personnel approved for the location, things get much easier.

I know where you hang out Doc, but the ideas I got for "Guy" stuff may be back burner... Looks like I am going to spend this winter developing a "Twenty Something Female Coming Of Age" project for some local producers. If six estrogen soaked months don't cause me to cut my wrists, I will be ready to blow some stuff up, for sure!!! Your contacts are a very valuable resource. Thanks for you input Doc.

LOL, got ya. I don't think I could offer anything for the "Twenty Something Female Coming of Age" film anyway. Except the knife. So not my genre. I try to be up front to productions about that. Doc is Action=Action is Doc. No comedies or romance on that level.

Good luck with that. LOL!

Thanks... keep that knife handy!!!! I may need it!!! LOL!!... Just kidding, of course. The project is actually very cool. Thanks again.

Well done Doc.

I never ignore the late night calls. Ive been contacted a few times for US productions calling me in Australia in the middle of the night. Last one was about 3am, got the call, got the job. They fly in, they fly out, they pay well, I work hard, and everyones happy.

FWIW - Im 15 hours ahead of US time.

I have a saying in our house: if the phone rings after 10pm, someone better have died or it better be about clearance to shoot at los alamos.

So do think you are now powerful enough to STOP Michael Bay from shooting on any of those military bases, I really think being that guy would be a hell of a legacy.

Seriously need my #? I'll pm you that. Despite it being on the website, I try to refrain posting my cell # publicly. LOL!

Sorry to disappoint, but I am a Michael Bay fan. I like his work, because of all the explosions and guns. LOL, go figure.

And, no, not powerful enough to stop anything/anybody from doing anything. Just have info and knowledge. And a few prop guns.

I hate to say this, but my old McDreamy's step aside, I found a new McDreamy!!! Action stories with guns, just what a girl loves. (Postman however due to his knowledge of ancient languages will always be my McSteamy).

That is so freakin' cool, Doc. I'm proud of you. I know how hard you work for this. You are one cool dude!!! Call you soon hopefully next time when you're not on locating so freakin' early on a Sunday morning... Hey, you get a call to work, don't blame ya, take it!
