i got an email today from nash entertainment, a large tv production company. They wanted to license footage of mine from a wildfire in southern california. This footage is over 3 years old and I had no clue if i still had it.

I have 13 harddrives full of video footage. Over 5 terabytes. I went on a hunt for the footage. One of my old IDE enclosures failed on me. I was getting worried. Very excited to get this footage out to the company. Would love to see some of my shots end up on TV.

I've done local commercials, but have never had anything come my way like this.

Well I found the footage after about an hour of searching and swapping drives.

Now I have a smile on my face.

On a side note, anyone know how much to expect them to offer for the footage? Or do i need to set a price? Or how does this work?

That's cool. Nash hooked me up as well for this footage. I'm the dude who supposedly get hit in the nuts.

I already got offers from : MTV, Tru TV, FOX, TMZ and others for this particular clip. It was funny to see it on TruTV,

Here you go: I busted my ass off for this footage ( including enduring over 110 degree weather at night and tweaked my lens hood from the heat) I worked the East flank of the fire, while all the media whores, oops, I mean "reporters", worked the West side. I had an "in" as I knew the crew working that side of the fire. They let me shoot right on the line and a bit ahead of the line in some cases. Where I was was an "advanced observation post" and assigned a firefighter with a radio with me so I could directly relay observation of fire behavior back to base (I used to be a FF for SBCO Fire, but that's a whole 'nother story), when the whores/reporters focused on the west end, I was directly with the actual fire crews on the east end near the 15 fwy (slightly N of Chino), but who am I to point blame or, lack of action. They had death and property destruction on the west side of the fire. I had crews actually give me Nomex (fireproof clothing, which I still have) but the footage was not exciting enough. Not enough people's lives were disrupted or destroyed on the East Flank of the fire.

Talk about an education for me.....ruined lens hood, great footage, no interest because of no death or real property damage. No, not jaded...........errrrrrrrrr.

Shot with my HVX.

Don't know if the footage would of worked, but credit alone would of sufficed for me.

But glad one of us is getting paid work. It is rare. Congrats.

The first 20 seconds represents over 10 acres going up in the same amount of time.
