Using Final Cut Express ver 4...
I only sort of came to some awareness of this problem last night, so I may not be able to describe it accurately...
I create sequences from my original clips. The nested those sequences into another sequences, building my short a chunk at a time.
At some point I applied a a video desat filter to the sequences in my collection, by selecting all the sequences on the timeline, and performing Effect->Image Control->desaturation (or something like that...)
Poof all the sequences were turned into monochrome...
Now, here's the strangeness. On some of the sequences the original clips that make up the sequence have the appropriate filter listed when I double click on the clip to bring it up in the viewer.
But on other sequences, the clips are in 'color' although the nested sequence is in monochrome.
When I open the sequence in the viewer (option-doubleClick) all it has in the viewer is the video and audio tabs, no 'filter' or other tabs.
If anyone 'understands' the above description, how can I get at the 'filter' options for these sequences.
-------------------------
To date, I've not used FC to do much in the way of video filtering, or the like, but rather used After Effects.
With After effects, any clip or nested element has the list of things that have been applied available in places, under the layer in the time line, and in a window associated with the clip or 'sequence'...
Since FC doesn't have this sort of 'attributes' of the clip or sequence in the timeline, but seems to only allow this to be seen in the 'viewer', I'm wondering where did the filter 'go' when I applied it to the sequences that have this problem.
