Nested Sequences and Audio Levels

Hey guys

Working an a long form documentary and am having problems with adio levels in nested sequences. It seems it will not take the modified levels and fades from the first clip of a sequence when dropped into another sequence and have other audio tracks under that. Also if i have two sequences offset in the beginning to fade audio and then put a song or some soudn effect under those, it won't use or see the levels and fades i have set. Its reallyu weird, anyone run into this?

I've had similar issues working with nested sequences; not sure if there is any specific solution. I believe it has to do with FCP not rendering out the sound when it should be. I feel this issue closely relates to another problem I occasionally have when lets say... I expect a QT Movie of a project, play it back and realize that some of the sound effects are missing or the audio drops out in some places.

Back to your initial problem; I had a similar workflow with a feature I recently finished. The way I approached it was to work on specific sequences, export the audio of that sequence as an AIFF and then in the nested sequence itself, replace the nested audio with the Rendered AIFF and relink the sound and audio together. After this, I didn't have to worry about any audio drop outs or fades not being accounted for. I could play with music and even secondary sound effects on underlying tracks without problems. A little more work, but no more problems.
