howdy, I'm curious if anyone has had experience with utilizing, say an 8bit project nested into a 32bit project, or vice versa. Does the nested project adopt the colorspace of the final project or does each nested project maintain its colorspace?
Reason being I mainly work in the standard 8bit colorspace, but noticed that often whenever I composite a linear or eliptical gradient for any color grading, I'll sometimes see the banding. I know this is because of the limited 8bit color space. The same color grade done in 32bit space produces a seamless image without the banding. The trade off is that grading in 32bit utilizes more time, especially if there is a stack of filters AND some filters do not seem to work in 32bit mode.
The work around I'm thinking about (and need to just do) is to enable a 32bit project with any gradient fx/composites but also nest or precomp the initial 8bit projects.
I've a final project over 80 minutes so I'd like to know ahead of time of any potential pitfalls, suggestion and/or optimizations regarding this idea.
thank you
