Neo2 won't install; msg that "Windows Update is running. "

Got the free Neo2 with my HMC150. Waiting for Booster to arrive. Meanwhile, I
got the s/n quickly (within a matter of minutes).

Neo2 installed fine to a laptop (1 Core2 Duo w/4 Gb RAM under Vista 64 Home Premium).

When installing to my workhorse (2 X AMD Opteron 275s w/6 GB RAM under XP Pro), I get a message claiming "Windows Update is running. The installation will not proceed."

Not sure how to get around this.
Any clues, hints, or surefire fixes most welcome.

(What a dummy I am)...I simply turned off Automatic Updates from Control Panel...who woulda' thought?
