Neighbours

I hate them. Always making loud bangs at 2am, talking, babys crying. There not exactly TRYING to be subtle. Anyone got any bad neighbour stories? I need ear plugs here.

Nah, filmmaker neighbours are cool. The one's that have kids run around your garden all summer aren't.

Bad neighbors...hmm...well, right now my neighbors are my Grandma and my Aunt so, no, I'm fine. At our last house the neighbors always let their dogs run wild and they would come into our yard and kill small animals, leaving them on our driveway for us to cleanup. That was always nice.

I had a neighbor that washed his car every single day rain or shine. It would stop raining and within minutes he was out washing his car. The worst thing was he would park it so that we couldn't play soccer while he was doing it. It seemed like he always waited till we started playing. Once we start he moves his car into place to wash it. A real jerk.

The funny thing is he washed his car so much that you can actually see him washing his car on Google Earth.

I've not had any problems with my neighbors until this morning. Where I live the cars are parked in an alley behind the houses. I get in my car and start it up. I then set about fastening my seat belt and putting on my gloves (it was a cold rainy morning and my side window was recently broken by thieves ... so it makes for a kind of chilly ride otherwise). Anyway, I hadn't been there 5 minutes and then put the car in reverse, backed up and as I prepared to move forward into the alley and on my way to work I see my neighbor round the corner. He said, "When you idle your car like that I get a face full of exhaust here at my back door". What the heck am I supposed to do, push the car to the end of the alley and THEN start it up? Come on, you know the cars are in the alley and they have to be started in order to drive.

The thing is I generally leave several hours before him, I just happened to be getting a later start this morning. So its not even like this is an ongoing problem.

I just said, "Ok" and he said "Thanks" and walked away.

Hmmm, memories, memories. There was the crazy lady and her kid that we to call the cops on because Miss Offhermeds got into a knock-down row with her boyfriend and/or pimp. This woman was such an overall nuisance in the apartment complex that we (a guy in college and one -- me -- just out) were considered model tenants. And we owned a mini potbelly pig.

Then at another place there was the couple across the street who like to have sex with the blinds open. Found this out on Thanksgiving night after returning from dinner. Thankfully, digestion was complete at that point. The girl also enjoyed nude vacuuming.

After we first got married we rented a house in a fairly nice part of town in KC. Didn't matter. On one side was a family who wouldn't shut their dog up when it barked at 3 a.m. At 5 a.m. and any other a.m. you want to mention. On the other side was the creepy, single 50-something guy we shared a driveway with. He was quiet. Too quiet. And when it snowed, he never helped me shovel. Rat bastage.

We've got great neighbors now, thank goodness.

Ah yes...The people who live on the ceiling. When I moved out of my last apartment it was because of these people. Ten students living in one single bedroom place. There was never a time when no-one was actively moving around and the floor creaked badly. When I moved out, the landlord was a bit pissed at me on account of the several broom handle holes in the ceiling. Now I live in a cement high rise and life is good.

What was his name? Something clever like "Sir oinks alot"?

Our first one was Elvis the Tiny King. Unfortunately, he had an internal birth defect (small intestines in a knot) and died before reaching his bloated, leisure suit-wearing days. As a replacement, the breeder gave us his half-brother. We named him Oreo. He was an awesome little bastard.

I live in a large house with 5 other dudes. Lucky for us (and them), the houses on the left and right of us are both vacant, and the market is sloooow so I don't think they will be occupied any time soon.

I'll add abit more about my neighbor who always washed his car.

I lived in the same house in the Bronx for over 24 years. I was born there and lived there until 2003. For 21 of those years our neighbors were great. We were good friends with them and got along well. But in 2000 all that changed. In 2000 the family moved to Flordia and only the aunt stayed. She married the guy I am talking about and he moved right in. Every day He did things that annoyed me or seemed odd.

Two of the wierdest were the following:

1 - One winter there was a huge snow storm. After it stopped my brother and I went out to shovel the snow. What do we see? The guy is standing there staring out of his front door wearing a t-shirt and drinking coffee while his wife is outside shoveling 3 ft of snow. The guy just stood there like a douche and let his wife, who was in her late 40s, do all the work. My brother and I helped her out and then did ours. He just looked at us with this smug look. An hour later he came out and went and washed his car. No Joke.

2 - This guy had a beat up old Jeep Cherokee or something yet he treated it like a Rolls. He even had Jesus head lights on it (head lights with a picture of Jesus on them). The wierd thing is my father found him in his garage with the car running. He didn't admit it but my father thinks he was trying to kill himself. Two weeks after that incident he took off his Jesus headlights. Apparently he lost his faith.

My family and I moved in 2003 but the last we heard was that our neighbor divorced the guy and left to Flordia. I heard rumors that they guy actually killed himself but I can't be sure. He was one of the wierdest people I have ever met and he obviously had problems.

Both great names.

I wanna hear more about the car washing dude. Someone should write a script about this guy. Also, who washes their car in the winter after a snow storm?

I've seen some strange things too. One of the weirdest was when my brother and I were driving to school a couple years ago...
It was raining like crazy and we had to look twice when we saw this old asian dude mowing his lawn. who mows their lawn when it's raining?

I agree ... there is a great psychological thriller hidden in this snippet of story :)

Also, who washes their car in the winter after a snow storm?
Well, mjjason's neighbor does ... or did :Drogar-Happy(DBG): Besides, have you seen how dirty snow makes your car?

He was getting a head start ... the rain will obviously make the grass grow, so he was cutting it as it was growing, thus heading off the overgrown, unkempt look that was inevitable following a rain shower. :D

Yes. I used to work at a gas station during high school it had a car wash and in the winter time cleaning that was a huge *****. Instead of putting salt on the rods to get rid of the snow and ice, the city would just throw down dirt instead, and it would be like an inch think under cars, by the end of the day there was like half a foot thick of dirt on the car wash floor. Do not miss that job. **** I hated cleaning that thing.

Anyways, back to carwashing dude, I'm betting that it was his life long dream to become a carwash attendent and when it never came true, he tried to commit suicide.

Well for the last 7 years my neighborhood has been the picture of peace and quiet. Next month it all ends. The huge mega-church down the road sold the property behind the neighborhood to a developer and he starts in on at least a two year construction job. Means bulldozers and saws for two freakin years.
What's worse in my recording studio is in a building bordering the new development which means no day time session for 2 years...... means I'll probably have to go find a real job..... and that sucks......

The car washing guy really intrigues me. Maybe I'll have to get the rights to the story and talk for hours with mjjason in order to write the full length feature. Hmmm...
