Neighborhood Battle - need tips

I went to go pick up the list this morning off of a porch in a plain brown envelope. I felt like I was a spy. This whole neighborhood is very polarized over the issue.

I would suggest you not only deliver a letter, but show up personally AFTER the letter has been delivered. I also suggest that the outside contain some personal info about the neighborhood that will ensure they know it isn't junk mail, along with soimething about 2 million it will cost them.

People never want to spend money, and they definitely like reasons for it....look at the area, see what the concrete will disturb, mention children inability to play and the dangers to them with large equipment....sand pits, sharp tools, noise problems, endless strange workers hanging around......there are a ton of reason to keep this thing out.

Yeah, but there's about 350 houses in the subdivision. EVen doing 10 visits a day I couldn't get it all in the few weeks until election day.

Good tips though. THe letter goes through a whole bunch oof very reasonable and logical objections.

This is where organization comes in...if you can find a few folks who agree, and get them to call or visit a few neighbors a day....why you might just build a revolution...viva la fence!

Right now the proposition looks soundly defeated 84% to 15%. I guess the work was worth it. I knew that the overall sentiment was negative towards the project, but I had no idea how overwhelming it was. The cool thing is that in a very off election year for us, it looks as though nearly all the residents voted.

Thanks for the support folks. I just saved about $500 beans a year in taxes.
