Needing a wireless video transmitter & receiver for 100 to 200 ft. (30 - 60 meters)
Hi all. First off, I already posted a thread in the aerial video section. This is NOT for aerial video, but I figured they would have some good resources. Unfortunately, I don't think that there's much traffic there. So I'm here.
This is for football broadcasting of high school games over the web. We have 3 cams. Two on top of the pressbox and one on the field. We run cat5 cable for each cam every week. Then a balun on each end to convert the video signal. I'd really like to replace the probably 300 ft. of cable for the field cam. The cables frequently go bad, and of course we have to be very careful to tape it down where people won't trip.
We don't really have the budget for the Radian devices, which is about $900. I saw that Nino Leitner (cinema5D & colleague of Philip Bloom) uses it. I'd say budget is around $200, but we'd like to stay closer to $100.
It's an SD broadcast over the web at 800 kbps. So a little bit of signal degradation may be tolerable. Of course, it needs to be something reliable, still.
I had been looking at this. It's pretty cheap, which makes me think it's probably not going to work out well. But it is easy to make returns to Amazon, so it's not a big risk.

I saw that this is popular for the aerial video crowd. The receiver has composite plugs. However, I have no idea how to wire the transmitter for RCA ports.

That's all I've got so far. The Tricaster is an SD model, and has composite inputs. BUT, if you know of a product that uses HDMI only, don't count it out. I can just get one of those HDMI to analog converter boxes on the Tricaster end. Looks like the prices on those have come down since I last looked them up. I'll worry about power and mounting later, but I'm confident that won't be an issue for me.
As far as line of sight... most stadiums I will have direct line of sight. Maybe just a window in the way. One stadium is close to direct, but not quite.
The top photo shows the stadium with the worse conditions for this. Those seats can be filled to the top most of the time. The second photo shows one of the best conditions-- that's on the roof, so the RX would be one floor below.
Thanks!
