Need Your Eyeballs

Gotta submit a new headshot on my callback for Monday, they want a "standard" head and shoulder..... (I hate anything standard, LOL, so I will get as close as I can)

So I went through my portfolio, and found an image that should work, but the background was a blah white. So, I am now playing with colors and textures for the BG.

What do you think of this, or what color do you think would be a better BG with what I am wearing in this pic?

Yeah, yeah, I know, I still need to do some color correction, LOL.

Also, what do y'all think about a small white border, say 3/16" or 1/4" all the way around the pic? I have seen shots with and without.

Couple of quick thoughts:

* Despite your hate for anything ordinary, that look is far from neutral. You're showing too much of the side of your head and not enough of your face.

* Whatever happened to the good ol' black & white headshot?

Requested color, specifically. I am working on a different one, that takes into account Terry's point on the pose. I have one that is more "frontal", but not really a good smile or character. On the other hand I don't do "touchy-feelie" roles or comedy, so I have rarely had to smile on camera. Usually its a mean, concentrated, evil, or look of pain.

this one is soul-less.

The first photo is definitely a better photo. But perhaps the second one could be improved by adjusting the framing. There's too much space above your head.

What if I used the first photo on the second BG? I like that photo so much more. It has "personality". The second one has nothing. Blahhhhhhhh. Plus it shows the start of a double chin. I must be allowed SOME vanity.

Just so you know Terry, I LOVE the B&W you did. But they want color, so...... but I will convert it just for other uses.

Yes but the first photo is far from standard. It's like handing in a cv for a job in a fancy font. 9 times out of 10 it will work against you.

The second photo has grown on me in the tighter crop. And the background is fine.

I would just use the second photo in a tighter crop and have faith in your face.

Good luck.
