Need wrap or something to attach clamp

Hi all.
I have this control that will usually be used on my tripod handle. Problem is cannot go down small enough to fit any of my tripod handles.
It won't always be used on the same tripod, either.
Any ideas how to take up the space so it fits. Can't have it sliding down or dangling of course :) clamp.jpg

Perhaps some foam Copper Pipe insulation you could buy at Lowes or Home Depot? That's still not going to make it rock solid though. WTH kind of funny fitting is that? It looks very strange and proprietary as those aren't threads per se, just grooves.

Take the knobs off and flip the moving part of the clamp around so its flat side presses against the tripod handle? Or grind a little material off the mating surfaces so it closes tighter. (Not a good idea if this is not something you own yourself.) There's always duct tape, of course.

You could try green hot glue.

Hot glue is just plastic, so it works well as a plastic mold material. Put some tape on the bar where it will be clamped. With the clamp closed around the bar, but not quite all the way (put a shim of cardboard in each side), dump a bunch of the hot glue on both sides while holding the bar in the middle. Hold the bar until cool. Trim the excess glue off.

Thanks everyone.

I was like - duh! - flip it around like Greg said after reading it (I should have thought of that). But the thumb screws are a bit too short then, only leaving a couple threads to attach.
So trimming is a good idea or filling it with material. The issue is this thing may be used on several different tripods (different size handles) and occasionally on a jib (larger diameter) so the size needs will vary.
I looked up the part and it's a Stauff gr5, a clamp body for pipes.
So it occurred to me I could skip using one half of the green body and bolt it straight to the control with just one half, but I will need shorter thumb screws - about 1/4-20 X 1.5"

Or
flip the one piece around as mentioned above but then I will need to find slightly longer thumb screws - about 1/4-20 X 2.75"

The present thumb screws 1/4-20 X 2.5" are either too short for one idea or too long for the other idea.
So finding some replacement thumb screws may be a good solution

Look for a thin rubber sheet that you can cut into strips and put inside the clamp, maybe found at a hobby store. And if you have different thickness of sheets will give you flexibility for various tripods. Home Depot sells a packing sheet that might do the trick...

The neatest looking thing to do is sand/grind/cut down one or both of the clamps where they meet so it will clamp a smaller diameter. But this idea, along with some of the other suggestions, will give a poor clamping of the bar as you will only have a small part of the radius clamping the bar and it will tend to wobble.
